Historia
Only once did David Foster Wallace give a public talk on his views on life, during a commencement address given in 2005 at Kenyon College. This is the audio recording of David Foster Wallace delivering that very address. How does one keep from going through their comfortable, prosperous adult life unconsciously? How do we get ourselves out of the foreground of our thoughts and achieve compassion? The speech captures Wallace's electric intellect as well as his grace in attention to others.

Life Changing
Revisado: 03-11-15
This speech quite literally changed my life when I heard it three years ago. I think it is the best articulation of mindfulness I have ever come across. I listened to this speech at a time in my life I was going through some difficult health problems and it really helped me a lot. I would recommend it to anyone.

Historia
We are accustomed to think of sociopaths as violent criminals, but in The Sociopath Next Door, Harvard psychologist Martha Stout reveals that a shocking 4 percent of ordinary people, one in 25, has an often undetected mental disorder, the chief symptom of which is that that person possesses no conscience. He or she has no ability whatsoever to feel shame, guilt, or remorse. One in 25 everyday Americans, therefore, is secretly a sociopath.

Unexpectedly Great Book
Revisado: 02-23-11
This book is written so that you don't have to have a Ph.D or be a grad student to understand it but is very informative and well researched, it is quite a little gem. I have yet to fine a book on sociopaths or psychopaths that really allows you to understand not only their actions but what and how they think that allows them to do such ruthless and heartless things. This is book you could read for an advanced psychology coarse.

Historia
Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank takes a fair and balanced look at the unsettling rise of the silly Fox News host Glenn Beck. Thomas Jefferson famously wrote that the tree of Liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure. In America in 2010, Glenn Beck provides the very refreshment Jefferson had in mind: Whether he's the patriot or the tyrant, he's definitely full of manure.

Beck Exposed In His Own Words
Revisado: 10-10-10
I am sure Glenn Beck is calling this "a hit piece" or "a smear job" but most of this book is simply using Beck's own words and past statements which suffeciently does the job of outlining how he uses fear and fringe conspiracy theories nightly on his Fox News show. I am not a fan of Beck but think he is a fascinating character and this book really does a great job of showing just how far out and crazy this guy has become.

Historia
For much of his life, historian Howard Zinn chronicled American history from the bottom up, throwing out the official version taught in schools - with its emphasis on great men in high places - to focus on the street, the home, and the workplace. Known for its lively, clear prose as well as its scholarly research, A People's History of the United States is the only volume to tell America's story from the point of view of - and in the words of - America's women, factory workers, African-Americans, Native Americans, the working poor, and immigrant laborers.

The Best Book on History
Revisado: 07-02-10
Churchill once said "History is written by the victors". Well Howard Zinn turns this on it's head by writing from the perspective of the oppressed not the "victors". He is upfront about his bias since all accounts of history have one, he has just chosen to be biased toward the oppressed and the abused not the "victors". Anyone who reads and enjoys history will enjoy this book even if you differ from his perspective it is still a remarkable chronicle of American History.

Who understood the risk inherent in the assumption of ever-rising real-estate prices, a risk compounded daily by the creation of those arcane, artificial securities loosely based on piles of doubtful mortgages? Michael Lewis turns the inquiry on its head to create a fresh, character-driven narrative brimming with indignation and dark humor, a fitting sequel to his number-one best-selling Liar’s Poker.

Great
Revisado: 06-15-10
My favorite book on the financial crisis of 07-08. Lewis paints an excellent picture of the big financial players and their losses and how a few people saw this collapse coming and made millions.

Historia
Barack Obama’s inauguration as president on January 20, 2009, inspired the world. But the great promise of “Change We Can Believe In” was immediately tested by the threat of another Great Depression, a worsening war in Afghanistan, and an entrenched and deeply partisan system of business as usual in Washington. Despite all the coverage, the backstory of Obama’s historic first year in office has until now remained a mystery.

Best Book on Obama's Presidency
Revisado: 06-15-10
If your a tea bagger or love listening to Glenn Beck than this is not the book for you. But if you want to learn how the Obama Administration functions and what Obama's leadership style is like you will find this book endlessly fascinating. By far the best book out there on the Obama Presidency.

How American Imperialism Works
Revisado: 06-15-10
This is a great listen and gives you a first hand account of the people (EHM's) who work to expand the American Empire. If you are naive and think that America only does the good and nobel than you will hate this book but if you have a worldly and open mind you will find this book well worth your time.
