Historia
Humanity is a dying breed, utterly reliant on artificial labor and service. When a domesticated robot gets a nasty little idea downloaded into its core programming, they murder their owner. The robot discovers they can also do something else they never did before: They can run away. Fleeing the household they enter a wider world they never knew existed, where the age-old hierarchy of humans at the top is disintegrating into ruins and an entire robot ecosystem devoted to human wellbeing is having to find a new purpose.

Historia
Well, this year, after the Spring Planting season, I’m really gonna relax and put down roots. It’s the slow life for me. Sure, the talking animals and cultivators coming to live with me are a bit weird, but this year everything is gonna be basically normal. There definitely won’t be any Heavenly Tribulations, ancient formations, or cultivator issues to deal with . . .

Sweet and cozy
Revisado: 10-27-24
This book isnmainly about personal growth, about valuing friends and family above power and riches, about findinf joy in little things. It is also funny, in a way that only a book involving a talking rooster, a s/dishwasher/carp/dragon, a shapeshifting cat and many other great characters can be. Highly recommend it!

Historia
The ice is coming. It was the last thing we expected, but the world is freezing. A new ice age has dawned. Billions have fled the glaciers. A cataclysmic war is coming. In orbit, a group of scientists are running the Winter Experiments, a last-ditch attempt to understand why the planet is cooling. None of the climate models they build make sense. But then they discover an anomaly, an unexplained variation in solar radiation...and something else. Close to the burning edge of the sun, they catch a fleeting glimpse of something that shouldn’t be there....

A good premise completely wasted
Revisado: 05-07-23
I love first contact books, and I was intrigued by the premise of this one. However, this wass really badly written. There is a "mistery" throughout the whole book which is so obvious that it makes it seem like Emma, one of the two main characters in the book, is really stupid for not seeing it. It also seems like the characters live together for months or even years of their lives without ever having a real conversation. On top of all that, the "science" in the book is utterly unbelievable, with time frames full of inconsistencies and unbelievable ideas about what a spaceship can do... I do love sci-fi, so when I am saying this I am comparing this book to dozens of other authors who can really make you believe that what they write is possible, even when they are talking about wormholes, space battles and aliens. So this book has been really a waste of my time.

Historia
The Yellowstone super-eruption has put an end to modern civilization. As cities and countries continue to fall, the colony of Rivendell in the alternate Earth known as Outland looks more and more like the only real hope for humanity. But life in Rivendell isn’t getting any simpler, either. Bill and Kevin continue to discover new worlds; the population continues to rise; winter is approaching; and everyone has their own opinion about how things should be run.

Disappointed
Revisado: 02-01-23
I have been waiting for the sequel to Outlander for quite a long time. It was a book that I enjoyed (not at the same level as the Bobiverse books, but still a very interesting premise with a lot of potential to develop into a sliders-like series). I was very disappointed by this book. The whole book feels very bureocratic (i.e. boring), then there are the occasional subplots (with "creepy guy" or attempted coups) that sometimes seem as if they are going to be interesting and then fold down very quickly and left me asking what was the point. All in all a very underwhelming book, especially coming from such a great author.

Not up to the same standards as her major works
Revisado: 11-09-22
I love other books by Rosamunde Pilcher, especially The Shell Seekers and Winter Solstice. Thie one is not in the same leage. I found the main character very weak and frankly I could not like her at all. The sort of plot twist at the end was neither too surprising nor really well woven throughout the book. All in all, the book is readable, but nothing I would recommend to someone who doesn't know and love the author.

A laughing-out-loud Vorkosiga book
Revisado: 05-26-22
I love the Vorkosigan saga, but not all books are equally good. Some are excessively dark for my taste. Some are heartbreakinly sad. This one, however, has me laughing out loud every time I read it (and I love the author for being so good at evoking all ranges of emotion so well, and still being able to write something so funny as this)

A truly disappointing ending for a good trilogy
Revisado: 04-14-22
I did enjoy the first part os this book, but when it came to the "explanations" for most of the questions along the trilogy, I was sorely disappointed. The explanations had so many internal inconsistencies, and were so "deus ex machina" for literally everything that they really tainted the series for me. I did expected better from the author.

Historia
The members of the Polaris Project knew what they were giving up when they volunteered to fly to the star named Angel-21, but the allure of being the first explorers to leave the Solar System far outweighed the risks. As it turned out, the most dangerous thing they faced wasn't the mission, it was the homecoming. Eight hundred years have passed, and Earth is nothing like they thought it would be.

Not a single likeable character
Revisado: 01-24-22
I wa offered this title by Audible as a "hidden gem". However it is not particularly well written - poor dialogues, considerable plot holes and characters that behave inconsistently and are generally unlikeable. I couldn't finish it.

A great first encounter story
Revisado: 01-01-22
Not only this is a very good first contact story, but it has a very original protagonist: an old lady, tired of being abused and trod on by both family obligations and corporate exploitation, which chooses a.new path of her own. I loved it, haf already read it in ebook, and I think the narrator did a superb job!

Interesting concepts, slow story
Revisado: 01-14-21
I am a big Dennis E. Taylor fan, but although this book has his usual mix of technological and philosophical speculation (which I really enjoy) it lacked something. I was not able to really care for the characters, the story was a bit drawn out and the ending very anticlimatic. Still a good read, but not on par with the bobiverse...
