Historia
Twenty-five years after her passing, Audrey Hepburn remains the most beloved of all Hollywood stars, known as much for her role as UNICEF ambassador as for films like Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany's. Several biographies have chronicled her stardom, but none has covered her intense experiences through five years of Nazi occupation in the Netherlands. According to her son, Luca Dotti, "The war made my mother who she was."

A detailed documentary of a gifted performer and a remarkable person, within a part of history well worth remembering - the price of World War II.

Historia
King Stephen's bloody siege against the town of Shrewsbury has reduced many of its stores and homes to rubble. The townspeople, busy preparing for the annual St. Peter's Fair, complain that the Shrewsbury monks have not shouldered their fair share of the burden. Cadfael, hoping to assuage flaring tempers, is drawn into a worse kind of violence on the eve of the festival.

One of my favorite Martin Cruz Smith books
Revisado: 07-28-24
Set against the backdrop of life in Soviet Union vs. Germany soon after the fall of the Berlin wall, this is not a book for those with fixed opinions. All governments have their faults exposed, but following the complicated path of the intelligent and resilient Arkady Renko trying to do some good, while dodging others’ conflicting plans, is always inspiring.

Wonderful and not abridged!!
Revisado: 03-14-24
Patrick Tull does an excellent job of reading yet again, enhancing the story with nuanced and illuminating narration. I truly enjoy listening to him, especially in this one near the end of the book, where he renders a description of the community’s response to the meeting of their new abbott. I also appreciate that this edition is NOT abridged, as are the Cadfael books read by Sir Derek Jacobi.

Excellent book and excellent reading
Revisado: 03-06-24
The Jungle Book should really be part of the curriculum of every elementary school. It is beautifully written, fascinating and exciting, with thoughtfully imagined human and animal characters, not to mention the jungle environment. There is enough description and information in these stories about animals in the jungle to please both children and adults, and food for thought about societal behavior and survival.

A Serious Lesson
Revisado: 12-27-23
Our government gave this tribe their rightful wealth, but not the powers to manage it themselves. It’s a serious lesson about what can happen when a group has fewer freedoms than those around them.

Fascinating mystery, with twists and turns set mostly in Norway. Horse racing is more peripheral in this one than in his other novels, but the characters and plot are of Dick Francis’ usual high quality, and action is non-stop.
