Historia
With her husband off fighting at World War I’s eastern front, Petra Kurková embraces her fleeting freedom, roaming the city at night with her camera. A born witch, she’s discovered that she can capture the souls of the dead on film. Her supernatural skills don’t go unnoticed by the enigmatic Josef Svoboda. He’s recruiting a team of sorcerers to infiltrate the front lines, where the bloodshed of combat has resurrected foul creatures. Petra’s unique abilities will be needed against the most dangerous enemies of all—those ever present, undead, and unseen.

Wanted More Magic & Tension Building
Revisado: 10-24-23
The plot was very original, which I did enjoy. I just wish there was more magic, tension, diving more into the ghosts on camera, mystery building and more of what Petra was capable of, instead of only being shown for a few minutes at the very end. I wanted to know more about those ghosts on camera. Her gifts were so unique and powerful and she didn’t really evolve / grow or “step into her power” the way she should. If Petra had done more of this then this would’ve felt more interesting.

Naomi Shaw used to believe in magic. Twenty-two years ago, she and her two best friends, Cassidy and Olivia, spent the summer roaming the woods, imagining a world of ceremony and wonder. They called it the Goddess Game. The summer ended suddenly when Naomi was attacked. Miraculously, she survived her seventeen stab wounds and lived to identify the man who had hurt her. The girls’ testimony put away a serial killer, wanted for murdering six women. They were heroes.

Gripping thriller
Revisado: 10-06-23
This was a quick, enjoyable thriller! Highly recommend for anyone who loves a good psychological mystery. Even though I wasn’t too surprised by the twists, it was still interesting enough to capture my attention and finish this in like three days. Took off one star for the narration because her female and male voices were identical, which can get a little confusing if you momentarily miss the identification of who is speaking.

Everyone has heard the story of the Narrow. The river that runs behind the Atwood School is only a few feet across and seemingly placid, but beneath the surface, the waters are deep and vicious. It’s said that no one who has fallen in has ever survived. Eden White knows that isn’t true. Six years ago, she saw Delphine Fournier fall into the Narrow—and live.

More Queer Focused than Paranormal
Revisado: 09-30-23
I loved the creepy, paranormal element… but for some reason this was VERY much a story about lesbians finding their happy ending… which doesn’t really have a place in what otherwise would have been a fantastic creepy ghost story. Also… didn’t enjoy the martyrdom theme. Sigh.

Historia
On Harlow Street, the well-to-do neighborhood couples and their children gather for a catered barbecue as the summer winds down; drinks continue late into the night. Everything is fabulous until the picture-perfect hostess explodes in fury because her son disobeys her. Everyone at the party hears her exquisite veneer crack—loud and clear. Before long, that same young boy falls from his bedside window in the middle of the night. And then, his mother can only sit by her son’s hospital bed, where she refuses to speak to anyone, and his life hangs in the balance.

Historia
Edith and Ashley have been best friends for over forty-two years. They’ve shared the mundane and the momentous together: trick or treating and binge drinking; Gilligan’s Island reruns and REM concerts; hickeys and heartbreak; surprise Scottish wakes; marriages, infertility, and children. As Ash says, “Edi’s memory is like the back-up hard drive for mine.”

STUNNING- ABSOLUTE PERFECTION
Revisado: 12-14-22
Such a beautiful portrait of the untimely slow crawl through hospice through the eyes of the patient’s bestie. The immense love captured on every page pairs well with the unexpected but appropriate moments of comedic relief. Heartbreaking but also moments of laughter. My review isn’t doing this book justice. Just go read it you will not regret.

Historia
To the Green-Eyed Lovebird: We met 15 years ago, almost to the day, when I moved my stuff into the NYU dorm room next to yours at Senior House. You called us fast friends. I like to think it was more. We lived on nothing but the excitement of finding ourselves through music (you were obsessed with Jeff Buckley), photography (I couldn’t stop taking pictures of you), hanging out in Washington Square Park, and all the weird things we did to make money. I learned more about myself that year than any other. Yet, somehow, it all fell apart.

Loved this Love Story
Revisado: 12-02-22
At first I thought, is this actual love or just hormones and college infatuation? But then the story got more complicated and interesting and aged like a fine wine. So good.

Absolutely beautiful
Revisado: 11-28-22
I love everything about this book. So beautifully written by Christina Lauren— you have my full attention and I will absolutely read anything you write! Also, outstanding narration by Erin Mallon. Narration is so critical in Audible format! While the story has a lot of heartbreaking moments, there are equally as many heartachingly-great ones about genuine deep romantic love as well as parent-child. Highly recommend.

CANNOT stand the narrators “country boy” voice?!
Revisado: 02-12-21
I just started reading this and I simply cannot stand the voice acting for Elsa’s fathers voice. Every other character is great. I ran into the same issue when listening to Educated. I simply could not get past it. Luckily it’s not the main character. Fingers crossed I can just deal with it and listen to this story because I am interested!!!

Captivating story, but the voices selected could be better
Revisado: 12-07-17
Loved the storyline— I was interested immediately. Just when you think you know the whole story, the plot thickens with another twist, which I love. All of the main characters were well developed and complex, possessing both likable and undesirable traits. I was often questioning about the characters motives and who they really are and what was going to unfold next. The *only* thing that keeps it from all around 5 stars was the cheesy “1920’s detective” voice that just isn’t real life and annoyed me every time the Gabe character spoke. It took away from my imagination envisioning the story unfolding from his perspective because all I could focus on was how annoying and unrealistic his voice was and how I couldn’t wait for him to stop speaking.
