Historia
Seven years ago, Cordelia Scott’s abusive father left without a word, and life has been normal ever since. The seventeen-year-old spends her days stage managing the school play (which is going great, if anyone asks), pining over her best friend, Veronica, and failing one too many pop quizzes. She’s never been sad that her father left, but she knows something is...missing. When her school guidance counselor, Fred, reveals during a session that he’s actually a demon, she learns that something is indeed missing: a piece of her actual soul.

Queer demon hunting
Revisado: 08-04-23
I really enjoyed sapphic ya fantasy. The one critique I have is that while the narrator did a good job with the female characters, every male character sounded like a monotone surfer dude which got annoying after a while.

Historia
From the outside looking in, the young life of Mia Döring seemed unremarkable, as she pursued her studies at a prominent Dublin art college. Unbeknownst to those around her, however, Mia's life was anything but ordinary. At age 16, she had been sexually exploited by an older man, which carved a direct path into the Irish sex trade, where she remained for several years until finally leaving it behind over a decade ago, at age 24. In her literary memoir, Mia excavates her difficult history as she sets about integrating her past with her present-day life.

Powerful
Revisado: 07-11-22
This is a powerful memoir about recovering from trauma and violence against women. The only issue I had was as the author is narrating she would make loud, wet mouth sounds.

Historia
Set on capturing the elusive inner workings of the European Union, Robert Menasse, one of Austria's most creative thinkers, moved to the EU's headquarters in Brussels for an enthralling, wine-soaked tour of supranational institutions. The resulting novel has become an international sensation, translated from German into more than 20 languages and deemed "the first great EU novel" (Politico).

Narrator is just okay
Revisado: 09-20-21
Multiple characters of different genders, from different countries and the narrator does the exact same voice for all of them. It was difficult to keep track of who was talking.

Historia
In this richly developed fantasy, Lei is a member of the Paper caste, the lowest and most persecuted class of people in Ikhara. She lives in a remote village with her father, where the decade-old trauma of watching her mother snatched by royal guards for an unknown fate still haunts her. Now, the guards are back, and this time, it's Lei they're after - the girl with the golden eyes whose rumored beauty has piqued the king's interest.

Great story, Sub par narrator
Revisado: 11-13-18
I was excited when I read the synopsis of this book. A F/F romance set in a fantasy kingdom is right up my alley. I really tried to get into this audio book but the narrator is no good. Her tone doesn't carry the emotion that the characters are feeling across effectively. I would recommend that if you're interested in this story to read the physical book instead.

Good except for the breathing
Revisado: 02-17-17
The story is interesting and the narrator would be good if he did take deep breaths right into the microphone after every sentence. I cringed every time I tried to listen on headphones
