Historia
Why have we lost our ability to focus? What are the causes? And, most importantly, how do we get it back? For Stolen Focus, internationally best-selling author Johann Hari went on a three-year journey to uncover the reasons why our teenagers now focus on one task for only 65 seconds, and why office workers on average manage only three minutes. He interviewed the leading experts in the world on attention and learned that everything we think about this subject is wrong.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Did I miss this was Young Fiction? I can only imagine teenage girls swooning over the male characters and loving the sex scenes. This is definitely not my genre and the writing really grated on me but I hung on to the death just as the protagonist did, against all odds, and finished it.

The Finale
Revisado: 06-20-23
I've loved reading this series. Every book has been a treasure and taught me so much about different parts of the world. It felt like meeting old friends again reading Pa Salt.
The narration was excellent (except for the pronunciation of Cooper Pedy...that was annoying). It's a big read but I feel like all the loose ends have been tied up. Very cleverly thought through and put together.
RIP Lucinda. I'm sure you're delighted with how it turned out.

The first rule of Sunday Lunch Club is...don't make any afternoon plans.
Every few Sundays, Anna and her extended family and friends get together for lunch. They talk, they laugh, they bicker, they eat too much. Sometimes the important stuff is left unsaid, other times it's said in the wrong way.

Historia
Pete Banning was Clanton's favourite son, a returning war hero, the patriarch of a prominent family, a farmer, father, neighbour and a faithful member of the Methodist Church. Then one cool October morning in 1946, he rose early, drove into town, walked into the church, and calmly shot and killed the Reverend Dexter Bell. As if the murder wasn't shocking enough, it was even more baffling that Pete's only statement about it - to the sheriff, to his defense attorney, to the judge, to his family and friends and to the people of Clanton - was 'I have nothing to say'.

Just get to the point!
Revisado: 08-15-20
This book just dragged on forever. I couldn’t wait for the end and still can’t believe it came highly recommended (obviously from someone that doesn’t know me very well!).
It’s bloody tedious at times.
Not Grisham’s finest.

Finally free from his nightmare of a marriage, Toby Fleishman is ready for a life of Tinder dating and weekend-only parental duties. But as he optimistically looks to a future of few responsibilities, his life turns upside down as his ex-wife Rachel suddenly disappears. While Toby tries to find out what happened - juggling work, his kids and his new, app-assisted sexual popularity - his tidy narrative of a spurned husband is his sole consolation.

This book came highly recommended by a friend but I’m thinking she doesn’t actually like or know me to suggest it!
The narrator is annoying and the story just goes around and around in circles. I did hang in there to the end but hopefully can save you the effort. Don’t waste a credit on it.
