Historia
Since 2015, Fred Segal has chronicled "unprophetic" sports predictions on the internet. His Freezing Cold Takes social media pages feature quotes and predictions from members of the sports world that have aged poorly or were, in hindsight, flat-out wrong. The pages have become a guilty pleasure for hundreds of thousands of sports fans who love to see sports media's infamous "hot takes" that went cold.

Excellent novelization of the social media account
Revisado: 07-16-23
I was pleasantly surprised to find it was a deep dive into some of the more famous and impactful cold takes in football, versus just an overload of bad takes you could just get scrolling the FCT accounts. That deep look into the take being made, why it was made, and why it did/didn't make sense in the context of the time period (along with many of them including follow-ups in more recent times) was awesome.

Historia
As a kid growing up in New York in the late '50s, Bill Apter fell in love with professional wrestling, and it wasn't long before he was rubbing shoulders with the greats as a young reporter and photographer. He's since become the world's best-known wrestling magazine personality, and he's had professional and personal relationships with a who's who of the business, like Triple H, Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Sting, and Ric Flair.

A good collection of quick stories
Revisado: 01-25-17
A good collection of quick stories. It doesn't really follow a "set" story, so except for the last couple of chapters you can feel safe going back and re-listening to certain parts (a "chapter jumper" as Apter himself says in the opening disclaimer). If a character who is a major player in a previous chapter is mentioned again or an event is referred back to, Apter will recap it quickly, making it so prerequisite chapter reading isn't necessary. Apter himself is a charismatic guy and easy to listen but seems to kind of trail off slightly. He reads the book at times as if he's less reading the book and more holding a conversation. It didn't bother me, being a podcast guy. But if you're big on the audiobook being as close to 1:1 with the written material as possible, I could imagine it being an issue. He never goes into a large tirade and is back to the text within a couple of seconds.
