➜ This audiobook was gifted to me by the author, in exchange for a review containing my honest thoughts and opinions.

The Good:
Excellent time travel book. Even though this is only the 3rd book, it closes a lot of the dangling threads from the first 2 books, so that was really appreciated. Definitely a "page" turner, that made it very difficult to stop listening.

The Bad:
The narrator was good, but maybe it was the writing or the narrator, many sections were just too over dramatic. The narrator was great otherwise, with multiple distinct voices.

Because the of the nature of the book, this book needs to be listened to more carefully, as it is very easy to get confused in who is talking. Without spilling anything, it's hard to differentiate between "2" characters.

Relationship... Why does there always need to be a "dramatic" relationship that somehow becomes the "love of your life" in a a few short weeks.

Overall:
I would recommend this book. For those looking for a time travel book, it was definitely one of the better ones with a lot of thought on the mechanics and repercussions of time travel.

This entire book from beginning to end feels like a cliche. Incredibly predicable, just nothing to get excited about. Easy read, yes. Fun, maybe if you're okay with predicable and cliche. NOTHING original. (Unless this was the first book that actually started the lone soldier with powerful new starship in new universe.)

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Uncertain... There wasn't any direction to the book until we were 3/4 through it. I had nothing invested in the characters. In the final 1/4, characters and plot really started to move toward something interesting. It just took way too long.

Would you be willing to try another book from Joe Abercrombie? Why or why not?

Uncertain: too slow.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

no.

I really loved the first 3 books. They were engaging and the characters seemed alive and stong.

Harsh Cry was a bitter disappoint, Kaede's personality completely changed. From the strong woman in the first three book, she now turns into a superstitious weak woman of the age long gone.

It was pain to listen to this book and it took many many attempts to start/continue this book on the drive to and from LA to SF bay area. (6 hour one-way)

Don't waste your time, if you loved the series, consider it ended at part 3.
