Excellent Mystery novel!
Revisado: 07-11-19
One of the best detective crime mystery stories I have come across in years! Interesting characters, cohesive plot, suspense, gore enough to make me squirm and feel really uncomfortable but intriguing enough to see what would happen next , or when I knew what, how it would happen. I will definitely read more novels written by Robert Dugoni!

Tesser, the dragon of life itself, is one of seven: Earth’s primordial draconic guardians, destined to oversee its development and safety. Species rose and fell, and 10,000 years ago...Tesser disappeared. The golden dragon woke up this morning, buried deep beneath the city of Boston, with no idea how he got there, and no idea how humanity grew so fast and learned so much while he was away. He is lost, a fish out of water. Where is the magic? He’s got a lot of catching up to do if he’s going to find his missing sister and stop an incursion of daemons from beyond the Veil.

Beautiful lush storytelling
Revisado: 07-21-18
Kali Wallace provides some of the best writing in this slow moving generational story of a story of a family of women living off a parcel of land in Vermont. This story is hauntingly tragic and epic and deep. This will go in my favourite pile along with To Kill a Mockingbird amd The Orchardist.

Detailed account of the German invasion of Italy
Revisado: 01-06-18
This novel will stay with me probably the rest of my life. This is the story of Peno Lella and his heroic actions during the German invasion of Italy in WWII. This novel was so graphic and heart wrenching that I had to put it down for a few days until I could once again pick it back up to continue to know the story. I can't begin to imagine what it was like to be alive and witness daily the horrors of war taking over your city, your country, and your friends and family life. This should be required reading for anyone who has not lived through an active war invasion of their homeland or for any young person who only has glorified imaginations of what war is really like.. This novel is brutal, stark and a testament to the ability to live on when everything has been broken.

Very good book about gifting; not preachy at all
Revisado: 11-28-17
29 Gifts talks about a woman's struggle with her diseases, MS and addiction. She found herself frightened, self-consumed and felt like her life a destined path of going nowhere and that she would never be able to acquire the simple things she wanted from live. Most of all, this woman was full of fear; fear of the unknown, fear of the future, fear of her husband leaving here when he tired from having to caretaking of her physical needs. 20 Gifts is the journey of this woman taking up a challenge presented to her by a friend and spiritual advisor that she practice for 29 days the act of giving something each day to another person. Told with honesty, this is a feel-good story and one that shares with it's readers how to practice the gift of 29 days of giving in their life. It also addresses other "gifting needs", such as why we give, how giving can either drain us or enrich us and the link to our emotional state when we are giving to someone or something. This is a very good, very nice book that charts a way to think communally while not losing sight of one's own needs. This was a gift to me, from me, in a year that has held many changes that haven't been pleasant. At 56, I am searching, once again, for the meaning of my life, my contribution in the world and what makes me happy now. It's been one of those life awareness and life changing years that take place every one in a while in my life. This book was a nice reminder of what core values I have always held about the world and it also helped me flesh out some of my own feelings around receiving and giving gifts. It even helped make clearer the definition of "gift" to me.. This is a good book.
