Historia
Renée Ballard is working the night beat again and returns to Hollywood Station in the early hours only to find a stranger rifling through old file cabinets. The intruder is retired detective Harry Bosch, working a cold case that has gotten under his skin. Ballard kicks him out but then checks into the case herself, and it brings a deep tug of empathy and anger. Bosch is investigating the death of 15-year-old Daisy Clayton, a runaway on the streets of Hollywood who was brutally murdered and her body left in a dumpster like so much trash. Now, Ballard joins forces with Bosch.

Very good story - Confusing narration choices
Revisado: 05-05-20
Great Connelly story, but the narration choices left me unsatisfied overall. Welliver should have read Bosch throughout. The same goes for Lakin and the Ballard character.

Just Wow
Revisado: 04-05-16
Would you consider the audio edition of The Life We Bury to be better than the print version?
As someone who enjoys listening to well-narrated stories, I'd have to say yes, although I've never read the print version
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Life We Bury?
Too many to choose from. I think Joe's relationship with his brother and those moments will stick with me most.
What does Zach Villa bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He's a gifted story teller. You can't beat that.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Joe and Lyla finally connected on an emotional level.
Any additional comments?
I was first drawn to this book because I got it as part of a two for one deal. But once I started listening to the story, I couldn't stop. I finished the story in two days, and more than got my monies worth. Great story great narration.

Best in Series
Revisado: 01-22-15
Would you consider the audio edition of House Reckoning to be better than the print version?
Having the story told to my by the likes of Joe Barrett is better for far then reading it myself. I have to say this has to be my favorite book in the ‘Joe DeMarco’ series, and I’ve listened to them all. Now I can’t wait until July ’15 and the 10th book in the series when ‘House Rivals’ is released. Nice work, Mike Lawson, and thank you!
What did you like best about this story?
I know Joe DeMarco better now!
What does Joe Barrett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He’s the best of course, and tells the story very well, right down to the Russian accent he uses for the assassin, Oscar the cook!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Joe got to confront Quinn in the Senate building.
Any additional comments?
Thanks again, Mike Lawson for the great stories!

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

One Day and Done!
Revisado: 12-03-14
If you could sum up The Martian in three words, what would they be?
...just listen to first sentence, it hooked me. Andy Weir could easily be a sitcom writer. ‘The Martian’ is loaded with many humors moments.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Martian?
The opening sentence of course!
What about R. C. Bray’s performance did you like?
Fantastic...a master!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Laughed a lot!
Any additional comments?
I downloaded the ‘The Martian’ based on a tweeted recommendation by ‘Andy Ihnatko,’ the tech writer at the Chicago Sun Times. I listened to the entire story in one day...couldn’t turn it off, it’s that good!

I wouldn’t mind having a beer with Joe DeMarco!
Revisado: 05-29-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes I would. The story is plausible and well written.
What did you like best about this story?
Joe DeMarco of course!
Would you listen to another book narrated by Scott Brick?
Actually Scott’s narration was the only fault I found with this audio book--it didn’t work for me!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Emma ate Donnelly's lunch near the end. I loved they way she owned the guy, is was perfection!
Any additional comments?
I’ve been listening this series out of order...turns out that was an ok idea. Joe is Joe regardless of where you meet him!

Historia
The "maddog" murderer who is terrorizing the Twin Cities is two things: insane and extremely intelligent. He kills for the pleasure of it and thoroughly enjoys placing elaborate obstacles to keep police befuddled. Each clever move he makes is another point of pride. But when the brilliant Lieutenant Lucas Davenport, a dedicated cop and a serial killer's worst nightmare, is brought in to take up the investigation, the maddog suddenly has an adversary worthy of his genius.

Annoying Audio
Revisado: 04-24-14
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I’d recommend it if it were read by someone other than Ferrone, say Eric Conger who read all seven of the Virgil Flowers stories...he’s great!
What other book might you compare Rules of Prey to and why?
None come to mind.
How could the performance have been better?
Clean up the audio; random noises etc.
Could you see Rules of Prey being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
No, not this book, but certainly some of Sanford’s later work for sure.
Any additional comments?
Reading the Kindle version presently...no annoying narration.

Historia
Funnyman Adam Carolla is known for two things: hilarious rants about things that drive him crazy and personal stories about everything from his hardscrabble childhood to his slacker friends to the hypocrisy of Hollywood. He tackled rants in his first book, and now he tells his best stories and debuts some never-before-heard tales as well. Adam Carolla started broke and blue collar and has now been on the Hollywood scene for over 15 years. Yet he never lost his underdog demeanor.

Feel kind of cheated with this one. Some funny stuff but certainly nothing to write home about. It was more like 8 hours of listening to Carolla ad-libbing, not narrating a book. Would I recommend this book to friends...probably not!

Good Read!
Revisado: 02-17-12
I must say, I didn???t learn anything I hadn???t already gleaned from reading Walter Isaacson's book shortly after Mr. Jobs passed away.
Adam Lashinsky's effort was good but really, kinda of sterile and business like. I guess that was his intention. Still a good read if your looking for your Apple info fix!
