Historia
Harvard law professor Jack Archer once balanced his professional life with the private world of dominance, surrender, and trust he shared with his wife. Since cancer stole her a year ago, finding love again - her final wish for him - is the furthest thing from his mind. From his empty house to the classroom, grief follows his every move. Until he meets a young woman with shadows in her eyes even darker than his own.

I learned so much!
Revisado: 11-22-20
I was not aware of the full extent of BDSM until I read 50 shades, and was so turned off from it I didn't think I would ever pick up another book like that again. I'm so glad I listened to Allen's book. I learned how BDSM culture, when portrayed correctly, can be intoxicating. Now, not only am I curious, but I clearly now need a boyfriend lol. Well written and fun!

Historia
Laurie is sure love at first sight doesn't exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic...and then her bus drives away. Certain they're fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn't find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they "reunite" at a Christmas party, when her best friend, Sarah, giddily introduces her new boyfriend: the man from the bus.

Hallmark movie in a book
Revisado: 12-08-19
It's not a typical book I enjoy reading, but once or twice a year I will watch a Hallmark type movie. If you're looking for something that is somewhat predictable, sappy, a little annoying, and not too deep, this is it.

Pay attention to characters and time periods!

The book is excellent. Pay attention or you will get lost and confused. An enjoyable story I was sad to see end.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Great story
Revisado: 07-17-19
Hard to read initially as I was bullied as a kid. Parts that bothered me: the age of Sam getting bullied (would have made more sense if he were older - like 10) and the giant hole of his 20s and how he and Micky ended up in business together. Otherwise a great listen!
