Don’t waste your credit. Absolutely terrible
Revisado: 10-03-20
This story may be good for those who are into alien sci-fi but as a whole, it was the worst story I’ve ever listened to. It was disjointed, non-sensical, and downright awful. The plot was weak and I found myself listening just so I could fall asleep without my mind wandering. Goosebumps middle school kiddie thrillers were better than this travesty. That’s how bad it was. If you want a good story, get The Silent Patient - it was one of the best reads I’ve had in a long time.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Brilliant and unexpected

I won’t spoil it but I will say that the ending caught me off guard and I’m hard to surprise. As I realized what was happening, I felt a rush of adrenaline and had to pause to put the pieces together. The author did a remarkable job of weaving a story that came to a head at the perfect time. One of the best books I’ve listened to in years. Highly recommend it!

Great story with vivid imagery

I’m a glutton for anything Scottish Highlands and this story didn’t disappoint. It’s well written and captivating, from the hills of Scotland to the Tudor court. I loved listening to the story of King James, his tragic death, and how his wife struggled to ensure their son became the crowned king of Scotland, despite the Tudor’s attempts to keep them out of power.
I’d highly recommend this book for people who love historical fiction.

Historia
This acclaimed best seller from popular historian Alison Weir is a fascinating look at the Tudor family dynasty and its most infamous ruler. The Six Wives of Henry VIII brings to life England’s oft-married monarch and the six wildly different but equally fascinating women who married him. Gripping from the first sentence to the last and loaded with fascinating details, Weir’s rich history is a perfect blend of scholarship and entertainment.

Great for Tudor history lovers
Revisado: 08-20-20
This book is well written and captivating. My only complaint would be that very little time was spent on some wives while ample time was spent on others. This book definitely makes one feel like they’re back in the Tudor courts of old enjoying the intrigue and English drama.

With the Confederate Army firing on Fort Sumter, the Civil War has begun - and an invasion of Washington, DC, from Secessionist Virginia seems imminent. As the population evacuates, the president is in desperate need of men to defend the capital. Lincoln's trusted aide, Adam Speed Quinn, and Senator Jim Lane hastily assemble a motley crew and garrison them in the East Room at the White House. As dawn breaks with no Rebel strike, a single act of violence intrudes within the White House. One of the Frontier Guard lies dead in the oval library, throat slit ear to ear. There is a murderer among them.

Anticlimactic and dull

The narration isn’t bad but the storyline drags out and is boring. I wouldn’t recommend this one.

Not his best
Revisado: 05-12-19
Maybe I’m spoiled with Mickey Haller and Harry Bosch because this one just didn’t capture my attention. You know who the killers are very early in the book and there aren’t many moments that make your heart skip a beat. I’m sill a huge MC fan but I wouldn’t recommend this one if you’ve already read any Bosch or Haller books. It’s okay but it’s not his best by a long shot.
