Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who's ever been chosen. That's what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he's probably right. Half the time, Simon can't even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire. Kind of cute romance, but messy plot
Revisado: 10-30-24
This may be too fanfic for me.
the magic system was cute. But the MC is one dimensional and just lind of there. So many things happen that arent addressed. The "real villian" is expected and Im never a fan of the idea that the villian has all these morals and ideals, but suddenly murders an innocent (which is NEVER addressed).
just meh.

Ambrose wakes up on the Coordinated Endeavor with no memory of a launch. There’s more that doesn’t add up: evidence indicates strangers have been on board, the ship’s operating system is voiced by his mother, and his handsome, brooding shipmate has barricaded himself away. This was a Rollercoaster of emotions
Revisado: 11-22-23
I wasnt sure at first how much I liked this book. It is so well written and the characters are compelling and interesting, while frustrating at times (but fairly so). There's a lot of sad and I'm big on happy endings. I wont say ehat type of ending this book has, as it isn't perfectly one thing or another. But I enjoyed it. It was worth the ride by far.

I despise the accepted bigotry in this one.
Revisado: 04-27-23
Why is it that Nick was so quick to stand up for Parker when his mom showed her prejudice against the fae, but when his coworker shows her blatant bigotry he doesnt defen his new husband at all. And Parker just accepts her view of him like it's totally fine. Doesn't matter what others have done in that group, Zaheed's reaction was gross but the acceptance of it by everyone is worse. This is not how we deal with prejudice.

Historia
NYPD Detective Alec MacAidan has always been good with weird. After all, his life has been a string of the unexplainable. But when an injured man gives him cryptic clues, then turns to dust in front of him, Alec's view on weird is changed forever. Cronin, a vampire Elder, has spent the last 1,000 years waiting for Alec. He'd been told his fated one would be a man wielding a shield, but he didn't expect him to be human, and he certainly didn't expect that shield to be a police badge.

Some questionable alterations of history
Revisado: 06-11-22
Not really spoiler BUT, the way the author tried to insert vampires into big historical events was sloppy. The black plague was actually vampires? Thats a dang stretch.
Also this was 90% exposition and talking about vampires and 10% plot (which all occurred in the last few chapters).
The romance is a mating thing so no actual build up. Just bam, your obsessed with this person. Not in love, obsessed. I liked the idea but the execution left me disappointed.

Get ready for a lot of "isms" lol
Revisado: 06-02-22
I enjoyed this book overall. I felt like it was an original spin on a common trope. It was cute to draw parallels with Pride and Prejudice. I did get annoyed when Nora would do or say something that contradicted her apparent intelligence. I felt like she often struggled to express herself and how the modern world had moved away from belittling/owning women.
(Spoiler) And it did fall into a similar pitfall of many works where there is one token non-white/heterosexual who is killed off. I also found that her falling for a man who seriously struggles to see women as equal and murdered his wife for cheating a little problematic.

If you like sitcoms, you'll love it
Revisado: 05-04-22
It is VERY silly. In that it relies on a lot of misunderstandings, terrible communication, and characters who don't take serious situations seriously. I will say it's not to my taste but it was interesting. I just prefer to not groan in frustration at obviously stupid actions/ reactions.

I enjoyed the plot and concept. Though it is your general shifter romance it does have a twist I havent seen before. It did feel repetitive in parts. The narration was kind of stiff with some struggling with voice variations. Still trying to decide if I will continue the series.
