Historia
Dung beetles might sound dirty, but the ancient Egyptians believed their god took the form of a dung beetle to roll the morning sun across the sky every day. In this episode, we roll with dung beetles around the world as they push their precious dung—often in balls many times larger than they are—over Florida pastures, Armenian highlands, and the vast South African savanna.

Historia
At the dawn of the nineteenth century, two very different magicians emerge to change England's history. In the year 1806, with the Napoleonic Wars raging on land and sea, most people believe magic to be long dead in England—until the reclusive Mr Norrell reveals his powers, and becomes a celebrity overnight. Soon, another practicing magician comes forth: the young, handsome, and daring Jonathan Strange. He becomes Norrell's student, and they join forces in the war against France. But Strange is increasingly drawn to the wildest, most perilous forms of magic.

Whatever your views on climate change, it's important to understand how the current scientific consensus on global warming evolved out of basic physical principles and a broad range of observations. This lucid series of 12 lectures is designed to do exactly that-reviewing the most up-to-date research and explaining the concepts, tools, data, and analysis that have led an overwhelming number of climate scientists to conclude that Earth is indeed warming and that we humans are in great part responsible.

Fundamental but dated
Revisado: 12-12-24
Excellent fundamental course on energy presented from a scientific perspective. As with any course on energy, it becomes dated almost as soon as it’s released and this one over 10 years old shows its age. I listened while commuting to help me separate science from political agendas and it helped with this.

Fascinating presentation, made me want more
Revisado: 12-01-24
One of the best Great Courses presentations I’ve listened to. I listened to this concurrent with an intro geology class I was taking at a local university to reinforce the concepts,
I now purchased another of Professor Wisession’s courses in video format and his photos and graphics are superb. So while audio is fine for commuting or exercising when video not feasible, the visuals are an important component in a course of this nature.

A lovely snapshot of humanity
Revisado: 10-16-23
I loved how the chapters alternated between Ruth’s and James’ experiences growing up and into adulthood. James captured the pain, the love, the heartbreak, the joy, the chaos that wove the tapestry of this family’s life. Real life is so much richer than fiction.
Narration was spot on. A must read for anyone who is human.
