And she won’t stop until she’s killed its maniacal leader: the Dog Tongue. I am woman, hear me roar…🙄
Revisado: 03-19-25
It’s a good thing all these men had that woman there to save them constantly and show them how to be men. Give me a break!!! The feminist agenda of this author has completely overshadowed the story that should be the focus but instead it’s become so blatant it completely ruined the whole series. What happened to this author? The first few books were really good and starting in book 3 it became noticeable that the men were becoming very feminine and became dependent on a woman to lead them. The only thing worse than a feminist, is a male feminist!!!

Historia
After the old gods warred and drove themselves to extinction, the cataclysm of their fall shattered the land of Vigrio. Now, power-hungry jarls carve out petty kingdoms, and monsters stalk the shadow-haunted woods and mountains. A world where the bones of the dead gods still hold great power, promising fame, and fortune for those brave - or desperate - enough to seek them out. As whispers of war echo over the plains and across the fjords, fate follows the footsteps of three people. All three will shape the fate of the world, as it once more teeters on the edge of chaos.

I know this is a fantasy novel…..
Revisado: 02-09-25
…but can these authors stop with the feminist nonsense? I’m sorry ladies but no matter how strong and fierce you are, you will never be able to beat a man in a fight of any kind, let alone a room full of hardened male warriors. That is unless you were to stab them in the back while they’re eating or sleeping. Again, I know this is a fantasy novel, but when two of the three main characters are female warriors and they easily defeat not just a man, but groups of men, it totally takes me out of the story from the pure ridiculousness of it all. And I’m not just picking on John Gwynn here, because this is almost every single modern fantasy author, male or female. It’s almost like there’s an agenda by the publishers that every novel or series has to have at least one female warrior who is a match for, or better than any other male character in the book. It’s completely absurd!!!! The weird thing about feminists is, they all claim to hate men and their “toxic masculinity”, yet that’s exactly the kind of female characters they seem to be obsessed with having in every single show, movie, or book. But it’s ok when it’s a woman? Make it make sense. 🙄….liberals.

Historia
The galaxy remembers Hadrian Marlowe as a hero: the man who burned every last alien Cielcin from the sky. They remember him as a monster: the devil who destroyed a sun, casually annihilating four billion human lives - even the emperor himself - against Imperial orders. But Hadrian was not a hero. He was not a monster. He was not even a soldier. Fleeing his father and a future as a torturer, Hadrian finds himself stranded on a strange, backwater world.

Whose idea was this cover?
Revisado: 01-23-25
If I’d not heard such glowing reviews for this book I’d never have given this a listen because the cover is so bad. Not sure why the cover for the physical book wasn’t used but it was a mistake. That said, the story is great and the narrator is fantastic. It’s a little slow to start tbh, but I hung in there (because of the glowing reviews) and soon became absorbed in the story. I’ve heard a lot of people say it’s like Red Rising meets The Name of the Wind. Maybe, but I think it’s a lot more like Red Rising meets Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb. Regardless, I will definitely be checking out the next book in the series.

Historia
In this intimate and open account—nothing like any rock-and-roll memoir you’ve ever read—Alex Van Halen shares his personal story of family, friendship, music and brotherly love in a remarkable tribute to his beloved brother and band mate. In his rough yet sweet voice, Alex recounts the brothers’ childhood, first in the Netherlands and then in working class Pasadena, California, with an itinerant musician father and a very proper Indonesian-born mother.

Worth the credit
Revisado: 10-22-24
EVH is the reason I started playing guitar, and while I’ve loved lots of other players over the years, he’s always been THE GUY in my heart and mind. The man had it all in spades and there’s two of his quotes: “It’s called music theory, not music fact”, and “there are no rules…if it sounds good, it is”, that perfectly encapsulates the genius and outside the box thinking of Edward Van Halen. He absolutely did reinvent the guitar. Great job narrating Alex, and from a grieving fan, thank you for this. RIP King Edward

Fantastic!!!👍
Revisado: 10-19-24
I got this because I loved John Gwynn’s The Faithful and the Fallen series and I heard it was influenced by this series. I’m happy to say I was not disappointed. If you love George R R Martin, Joe Abercrombie, and John Gwynn, you will enjoy this. As far as the narration, I am not a big fan of female narrator’s reading stories about men and war. That said, she did an admirable job, and after the first chapter I was lost in the story. Partly because the story was so good, and partly because her reading was so good. All in all, if you are a sword and sandal/sorcery fan, this book is a must listen. I will definitely continue this series, and I will be on the lookout for other David Gemmell audiobooks for when I’ve finished this series.

Satisfying conclusion to trilogy
Revisado: 09-08-24
Overall I really enjoyed this trilogy. The first book ‘Bloodless’, was not a promising start if I’m being honest. I was even considering giving up on Pendergast’s story altogether. But, I succumbed to my curiosity of whether P & C could pull off a decent story out of the cliffhanger ending. So I purchased ‘The Cabinet of Dr. Leng’, and loved it so getting the final book in the trilogy was a no brainer. Happy to say, it was a satisfying ending to what turned out to be a fantastic trilogy. As for the narration, it was as good as any book I’ve listened to in a long while. One suggestion for the authors using the typical time travel trope of assassinating Hitler before he becomes the dictator we all know and despise. Why not time travel to take out Karl Marx, who is responsible for not only Hitler (yes Hitler was a socialist….look it up, it’s his own words), but Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, and on and on. Socialism is at the root of both communism and fascism, which is in turn responsible for more deaths from starvation and murder than any other political ideology in the history of the world by a country mile. Why not start with the guy who is responsible for the manifesto these leaders followed? Just a thought.

Feminist Star Wars 👎
Revisado: 03-25-24
Total crap!!! This was the most unlikeable protagonist in any story I’ve read in many years. Also, at a couple points in the story she kills before anyone even fires a shot or attacks. That is NOT the Jedi way!!! Please stop letting men hating feminists who know nothing about Star Wars write stories of the greatest I.P. in entertainment history!

Revisado: 01-31-24
This was a fun story that’s set after RotJ but a little bit before the original Thrawn trilogy. The narrator did a competent job but I think all Star Wars books should only be read by either Marc Thompson or Jonathan Davis. All in all though a good audio experience.

Finally unabridged!!!!
Revisado: 01-24-24
Whoever is responsible for re-releasing these previously abridged Star Wars audiobooks into unabridged format, I want to express to you a very heartfelt thank you. This book is great! As to the narration, as far as I’m concerned there are only two narrators for Star Wars audiobooks; Marc Thompson and Jonathan Davis. They turn these novels into movies for your ears and this one is no exception. If you love the unabridged Star Wars EU novels, this is a no brainer.

Working with New York Times bestselling author Kent Heckenlively, Alex Jones masterfully gives you the deeper discussion about such hot button topics as the truth behind the globalists plans for artificial intelligence (AI), the central bank digital currency, social credit scores, Big Tech tyranny, censorship, fifteen-minute cities, the unholy alliance between big business and big government, the military-intelligence-industrial complex—which is hell-bent on eternal war—and the all-out assault on free speech and the Second Amendment.
