Fun, Fun, Fun!!!

I read all of the previous shopaholic books the old fashioned way. This was the first I listened to. I loved the narrator! This was the perfect book to listen to while lying on the beach.

Historia
Gerrold, a science fiction writer from California, adopts a son who has a slight behavioral problem. He believes himself to be a Martian. Gerrold begins the long, involving work of trying to earn the acceptance of Dennis, a hyperactive eight-year-old who desperately wants a father's love, but is so insecure he feels he must be an alien. Gerrold's semi-autobiographical memoir of the first two years with Dennis is a funny, endearing, heartbreaking, and beautifully written testament to fatherhood.

Lackluster
Revisado: 05-12-07
I was disappointed by this audio book. I've never heard such a boring reading. It was delivered in a monotone. The book itself needed more editorial pruning. It had many long segments of self-glorification by the author. It stated that it was a novel, but based on a true story. It shuld have simply been written as a memoir. it would have been easier to take. The subject of adoption of a school-age child is one that could be of interest to many, but not the way this one was told.

Historia
Honey Santana, impassioned, willful, possibly bipolar, self-proclaimed "queen of lost causes", has a scheme to help rid the world of irresponsibility, indifference, and dinnertime sales calls. She's taking rude, gullible Relentless, Inc., telemarketer Boyd Shreave and his less-than-enthusiastic mistress, Eugenie, into the wilderness of Florida's Ten Thousand Islands for a gentle lesson in civility. What she doesn't know is that she's being followed by her Honey-obsessed former employer.

Loved it

I loved this book. I found myself wondering multiple times as I listened how he was going to bring it all together. His characters are so quirky, but lovable, (except Piejack). I laughed out loud often, which got me some weird looks as I was on the treadmill at the gym! Great escapist listening .

Racy
Revisado: 04-11-07
This book took it to a new level. It was very realistic, but I had to have a talk with my 15-year-old daughter before I let her read it. It opened a good discussion, but this book might be a bit much for some girls due to the depiction of budding sexuality. Especially Lena's story line. It was very entertsining, and a good wrap-up to the series. I hope Ms. Cabot brings these characters back after college.
