You’re “tolerant”? Then listen.

So many people say that they are “tolerant”, but they will not even listen to Glenn because they KNOW that he is a racist, homophobic, intolerant hater that just hates. They know this, not because they have heard his “hateful” words, nut because they have been told that’s how he is. If you are one of those people who has never listened to Glenn Beck on Radio, tv or in print or audio book, be as tolerant as you say you are. Be as tolerant as you expect him to be. Give him and his opinions and ideas a chance. If you disagree, fine. Lay out your own thoughts. Make your own coherent points and present them.

Pretty standard humans vs evil super powers story

British accents in the audio book, jumping between characters who sound too much alike to keep straight. I just couldn’t follow along.

Not your usual time travel book

While there are certainly many books about time travel, this one is uniquely different. "History travel" the lead female calls it. Think of Doc Brown and Marty McFly traveling through time, but in a Model A Ford instead, and without the need to hit 88 miles per hour. They just need to hit a "slick spot" in the road to slide through time. I am glad to have listened to an audiobook that finally did not feel the need to have an overly gratuitous love scene or 12. A good listen (or read) about a couple of people chasing the American dream through time.

You can't go home again

Sometimes a simple phrase like "you can't go home again" is turned into a long story; maybe one that is a bit too long. It is decent enough, but has some problems at the end with keeping things together. As a writer myself, I can understand the problems with a satisfying ending. This is a good enough book if there is nothing else on your shelves.

Investigate or have sex

If you don't pay attention to the publisher at the start, you will soon realize that this is a Harlequin novel. When the FBI agents aren't investigating the crimes and trying to get the bad guy, they're either having sex or fantasizing about it. We get it, they are adults but Lara Gant seems to be a little too focused on getting physical with the bad guy or her new partner. If you got rid of the gratuitous love making, this 8 book series could be condensed to 4.

Once you get past the late nite Cinemax plots, it is a good crime series. Of course there is a mole, a bad guy and a twin, plus a daughter that gets used as bait. It is longer than needed (even without the explicit relationship descriptions), but getting through it is a rewarding way to spend some free time.

Good for gamers

A futuristic novel read by Wesley Crusher? Okay, a bit of a geek out. The voice is an important part of an audiobook and Wil Wheaton was a great choice for this book, especially since there is a direct Wil Wheaton reference and plenty of one off references by way of Star Trek mentions.

Good plot for gamers and 80's fans. Just before beginning this audiobook, I had finished watching Family Ties on Amazon Video, just to ironically find a few mentions in listening. There are plenty of great mentions in games, TV and music for those with a good memory. The downside is that it seems as though the author may have been paid for each time that he used the word "haptic" (for a total of 53 times throughout the book). We get it, touch and movement is an important interface within the real world and The Oasis.

There are some twists and surprises, but nothing really over the top. Good characters and good plot and character development. Very well worth the read/listen.

Good portrayal

Often I have trouble with "the classics" because of the old time writing style not always matching up with my modern day brain. That was not as noticeable here, since the audio drama was well performed. Background sounds were well done and this will remind the listener of the old radio dramas, with much better sound quality.
