Plunged into darkness, the Earth's surface is shrouded in dust from the impact of asteroid AG5. In the depths of a subterranean facility, she has uncovered a deadly weapon; the truth behind the enormous structure buried beneath the Earth. Elsewhere, Professor Steiner and Robert Goodwin may be humanity's greatest hope, but they must struggle against monumental adversity as an internal battle rages within the Global Meteor Response Council.

This series presents a world that is completely original, unlike any I've read before. I love the descriptions and the detail.

The best narrators use different voices to differentiate among the characters. This reader did, but only to a limited extent. I often found myself wondering who had just spoken.

nobody captures emotions like Catherine Ryan Hyde
Revisado: 12-04-23
as I was messing the end, I was thinking that I would wrote that this was my FAVORITE CRH book - which is saying something. Then I wondered how many of her book I had read so I opened Goodreads and counted: 19. And as I read through the titles, I was overcome by memories of how much I had loved so many of her books. so, while this feels like my favorite CRH book at this moment, it will soon join the list of my favorite CRH bookS.
The author captures and describes emotions so clearly that I can feel them myself, and feel like I know the characters personally. Even when i KNEW what direction the story would go, I reveled in the experience of getting there with her.
It helps, too, to have excellent readers. I was skeptical at first, thinking 3 readers were 2 too many, but they did a great job and never let me wonder whose story was being told. .

Fabulous Narrator, and a Great Book!
Revisado: 11-01-22
I chose this book only because Ray Porter was the narrator. Normally, I don't care much for military tactics, weaponry - things I don't know anything about. And sometimes, throughout the book, I asked myself if the book - the story and the writing - was really THAT good, or if was Porter's reading that make it seem so. Whatever the answer, I couldn't put it down, I came to care about the characters and see them almost as real people, and i couldn't wait to see how the plot developed. Now I have to go see if there's a sequel, or another book by Andrew & Wilson.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

I love, love, love this book!
Revisado: 08-13-22
It's the first Andy Weir book move crew, and I can't wait to read more. I've already bought Artemis and I'm looking forward to starting it soon. The detailed descriptions of Rocky, his technology, his world are mind-blowing. I don't know how a person's brain can think up stuff like that! But I sure do enjoy reading it! And Ray Porter's narration was PERFECT for the story! Narrated books just don't get any better!

Historia
It began with a breakthrough. In interspecies communication. Leading both John Clay and Alison Shaw through a series of startling discoveries and life-altering revelations. Divulging who we really are as a species. Why we are here...and who is here with us. And the greatest lesson of all, that our brains are not as rare and unique as humans had assumed. But rather just one of three brains between three extraordinary species.
