Historia
Randy Rainbow has a few things on his mind that he wants to talk about. As a savvy social commentator tuned into the public discourse, his unfailing intuition tells him that the perspective everyone in America is clamoring for is that of a privileged white male complaining about a bunch of shit. While writing his New York Times bestseller Playing With Myself, Randy saw an America in crisis. He knew that what the country needed to get back on its high heels was a hard-hitting gay agenda and here it is—Low Hanging Fruit.

This book is a let down. First book is awesome this on is yuck
Revisado: 10-09-24
I absolutely love Randy Rainbow… but I think I’m not even going to finish this book… I’m half way through and it’s all full of his complaining about his video views, hating his fans recognizing him and bitching about having to talk to those people who want to talk to him or have an autograph because he’s not famous enough to have people to protect him from those low hanging fruit.
Spoiler: there is a whole weird chapter about the letter A complaining about her crappy life and trying to get a job on broadway.
I can’t believe I’m ready to send it back! I want to cry. I really love Randy… but this is….. sad.

Overall good with one thing that bugged me a lot
Revisado: 02-13-23
I really liked the story with one exception. There were too many references, memories and flashbacks to the detective’s dead lover Rachel. It was to the point where I began to feel as if I needed to send him a sympathy card, and the the name of a professional grief counselor. But instead I just fast forwarded.
The book would have been a lot better and the characters background would have been just as good with just a few well placed references and not the plethora of dead girlfriend angst.

Is this a thriller or a sex novel?
Revisado: 10-06-21
I’m confused. It seems there are a lot of chapters focused on the main character’s wife’s sexual memories in detail as she sorts out her pass sexual pain and sexual orientation. Very distracting from the story and seems to have no reason except filler.
I’m only 2/3 thru and might not finish. Definitely not thrilling so far.
The reader is good. Not my favorite. But good.

Worst from an author I love Disappointing
Revisado: 09-16-21
I’m so disappointed. I love Rick Mofina. I’m very glad this is not the first book I ever listened to or I would never listened to any other books he wrote which I all loved.
This book is below his ability. So far I find myself doubting he wrote it.
Not even 1 character is likable. No one in the book evolves. The ending twist suspect villain is so obvious from the very moment he is presented in the first few chapters. The soon to be victims reactions to him, makes you sure of that, thus her future actions with him make no sense.
The story was simple, slow, and too many flat and uninteresting people that never grow. The twists and turns didn’t really exist. the ones the author try’s to put in, you could see coming a mile away. And the last minute “Hail Mary play that saves the day was so unbelievable it seemed that Mr Mofina had no idea how to stop a story that was going on too long. Or in my opinion, never should have started.
I’m really disappointed.

I liked it. But it wasn’t his best story. I don’t know. Lots of people think it’s great. His best. I think it’s not his worse. But he’s done a lot better. Still it’s ok

Ok read. But expected more
Revisado: 10-12-20
The book is an autobiography so don’t expect a lot about Melanie in great detail. More like this is what I did with her and a lot of these short kisses emails.
It was read by the author and is emotional in some parts, in other parts very dry. You can tell she not a professional reader of audiobooks.
*****I’m not going to spoil much, but don’t read from here because I might****
She talks a lot in her forward about M betraying her and all this nasty stuff... etc.... so as I listening, I kept listening ., and listening ... and finally at the very end chapters she tells us what happens but (at least for me - I could be wrong - she seems like still would run back to M if given a chance)

The performances was excellent
I’m not sure if I liked or didn’t like this story. I don’t want to leave any spoilers, so I can’t really say why.
I believe the book would have been a lot better if it was shorted. There was a lot of fluff in it. At lease that what I felt reading it I even fell asleep, skipping over an hour. I didn’t bother to rewind, yet I was totally able to follow along and seemed to miss nothing important, actually seemed like I missed nothing at all.
Im really kind of disappointed because it was supposed to be so good.
When it’s all said and done, I’m very neutral on this book.

Really enjoyed this book
Revisado: 01-25-20
I really enjoyed this book. The plot was good. The horror involved in the crimes was enough to be gripping without being described in over gory details, just for the shock factor ,that wouldn’t add anything to the book.
The only one thing that started to get a little annoying, but the story made up for it, was the lack of contractions in the narrations. The author was consistent with this throughout the book. For example: It could say “He did not think she did not like that it would not happen” Rather than “He didn’t think she didn’t like that it wouldn’t happen.” Or something like that
But regardless of it annoying me at times. It was a little thing. Since I enjoyed the book

Lots of ways to get music-don’t need it in A-Books
Revisado: 12-07-19
I had to write this review even though I’m only about a 1/3 through the book, because I’m not sure I’ll make it any further.
Scott Brick is one of my favorite performers
Brad Meltzer has a style I’m comfortable and like.
But
I can’t relax and enjoy the story with All kind of different mood music that continues through the book and gets loud and soft etc.. Not always even matching the mood of the book at times.
Who thought up the idea of playing music over reading and especially dialogue in an audio book?? Then whose the guy who agree that it was a good idea?
It doesn’t help that I feel that if something doesn’t develop soon then this book is just a Meltzer version of a rehashed plot seen in dozen of books before it. And the characters seem flat and unreal. Or could that be because I can’t really get to know them because of the stupid music getting so loud to inform me “this is an important point”. Thus distracting me from “this important point”
Note to book produces. People who are listening to an audio book want to hear the audio book. Not hours of 6 second musical clips over the words. Remember, dear Audio book producers, books are full of WORDS not cymbals crashing, violins humming and drums rolling.
