Female narrator ruined the book for me

What is it with female narrators that feel the need to say every line with angst or unnecessary added emotion?!?! I made it through about half the book and just couldn’t stand listening to her. Story progression was slow but I think some of that was just the pain of listening to her. I wish authors would be more selective about the voice actors they choose. Poor narraration kills a book faster than bad editing in my opinion.

Could Not Finish!

Have liked the previous books in this series but this one is a hard pass. Very immature female characters with cringe-worthy dialogue. Very rarely will I not finish a book but I could not get through the second half of this. Voice actors were good but not enough to keep me listening to the end. Don’t waste your money!

Sweet story…needed a different female narrator

Enjoyed the story. It was a slow build but very sweet. Female voice actor came off dry and monotone, and as if she were reading versus narrating. It’s always disappointing when they hire a strong male voice actor like Troy Duran and then pair them with a female of so much less depth and skill.

Story wasn’t bad but the FMC behavior was really unbelievable. Troy Duran did a great job. Always enjoy his work. Stephanie Rose disappoints as usual. Her narration is stiff and cringe worthy. Made it really hard to finish.

Enjoyed the story in spite of female narrator.

Troy Duran is such a strong narrator so it’s disappointing when they pair him with a female narrator that is so painful to listen to. Morae Brehon delivers every line in the book like she’s in agony and comes off far too old for the female character. WAY too much angst when it wasn’t needed. I powered through since I really enjoyed the story but will definitely avoid any future audio purchases where she is the female narrator.
