Historia
It’s spring and Three Pines is reemerging after the harsh winter. But not everything buried should come alive again. Not everything lying dormant should reemerge. But something has. As the villagers prepare for a special celebration, Armand Gamache and Jean-Guy Beauvoir find themselves increasingly worried. A young man and woman have reappeared in the Sûreté du Québec investigators’ lives after many years. The two were young children when their troubled mother was murdered, leaving them damaged, shattered. Now they’ve arrived in the village of Three Pines. But to what end?

Holy Cow, I feel lucky to have survived this one
Revisado: 06-08-24
This book was so suspenseful, I was gasping and talking out loud to the characters, willing them to be safe. It is so, so good. I can’t wait for book 19!

Historia
Hardly a day goes by when nine-year-old Laurent Lepage doesn't cry wolf. From alien invasions to walking trees to winged beasts in the woods to dinosaurs spotted in the village of Three Pines, his tales are so extraordinary no one can possibly believe him. Including Armand and Reine-Marie Gamache, who now live in the little Quebec village.

Amazing Story, beautifully read
Revisado: 06-07-24
I understand that the original performer of this series passed away and he is missed. He was amazing. However, this reader is also excellent, just different. If he had been the original reader, people would love him, but because they are comparing him to what they knew and expected from before, they are very critical.
I don’t even feel that I need to comment on the story. It’s as amazing as all of Penny’s writing. She does not disappoint.

Historia
Agatha Raisin is bored. Her detective agency in the Cotswolds is thriving, but she'll scream if she has to deal with another missing cat or dog. Only two things seem to offer potential excitement: Christmas and her ex, James Lacey. This year Agatha is sure that if she invites James to a splendid Christmas dinner, their love will rekindle like a warm Yule log. But that fantasy will have to wait for now.

Loved the story and new characters
Revisado: 03-01-23
Negative reviews about the narrator worried me as I downloaded this book to continue listening to the series. I really enjoyed Penelope Keith’s voice and reading style, and expected this to be inferior. However, I think Wanda McCaddon has a lovely, soothing voice, and although she doesn’t use different voices as distinctly as Keith, it’s very easy to follow the story and dialogue. She is not at all monotone. I liked this story, as I do all M.C. Beaton’s writing, and look forward to continuing the series.

Penelope Keith and M. C. Beaton = Perfection
Revisado: 01-24-23
Penelope Keith brings Beaton’s characters to life. It is a marvel how she can change her voice so slightly, but creates and matches the perfect intonation and voice to each character. M.C. Beaton is subtly humorous, and I particularly love how Keith voices Sir Charles—I giggle aloud while listening. I can’t imagine a better cozy mystery writer or cozy mystery reader!
