Really bad narrator. Really great story

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I have heard worse, but this guy drove me crazy mispronouncing words.

Couldn't stand to listen - bad narrator

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

In fairness, I only listened for half an hour. The narrator was so horrible that I couldn't stand to listen to the book. Was hoping it was eligible for a return. Yikes.

Has State of Emergency turned you off from other books in this genre?

No - just other books by this narrator

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator tried too hard, I guess. Completely impossible for me to listen and enjoy. I drive while listening and this was not going to work.

What did you love best about Stalker?

The story kept going throughout. Decker, the dad, showed a very human side when his daughter was in danger.

What about Mitchell Greenberg’s performance did you like?

He does character voices well.

Any additional comments?

I saw some bad reviews and did not expect much. Not sure what drove others away from the book, but I enjoyed it. Certainly, it was a better listen than Jupiter's bones, in my opinion.

abridged would have been much less painful

Not sure, but this will be put away unfinished.

Have you listened to any of Simon Prebble’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Never listened to him before. His voice and style got me through the first few chapters, but there is a limit to how much a reader can make up for bad text.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Wizard?

So much of the book was spent on scientific detail rather than Tesla's life. I know it would be hard to separate the two completely, but it is difficult to listen to so much detail.

In fairness, this is outside my normal listen. However, I am often happily surprised by books that are out of my normal range. This was a very unhappy surprise. At least itt was on sale.

My first Fay Kellerman book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend the book. The characters were intriguing. While it didn't strike me as a 5 star book, it seems like a very promising series.

Which character – as performed by Mitchell Greenberg – was your favorite?

I thought that Mitchell Greenburg did a great job as a reader. I like Decker's voice the best, which is good as he is the primary character.
