Historia
A decade ago, Emily Carlino vanished after her car broke down on a California highway. She was presumed to be one of serial killer Ronny Lee Jessup’s victims whose remains were never found. Writer David Thorne still hasn’t recovered from losing the love of his life, or from the guilt of not being there to save her. Then David meets Maddison Sutton, beguiling, playful, and keenly aware of all David has lost. But what really takes his breath away is that everything about Maddison, down to her kisses, is just like Emily.

Revisado: 04-16-21
I have been a Koontz fan for years but waited to purchase this book and read a few negative reviews. When the time was right however, I purchased it; and I was not disappointed. The story, characters and pacing were did and did not disappoint. Bravo, Mr. Koontz. For those of us who are familiar with the current trends in speculative fiction, this was a solid entry.

Historia
Galaxy “Alex” Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale’s freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug-dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. In fact, by age twenty, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she’s thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world’s most prestigious universities on a full ride. What’s the catch, and why her?

Good Story,but. . .
Revisado: 04-01-20
There is so much well done with this book, but it will never be my favorite. It has a tendency to near nechrophilia that is disturbing to me. The story is well done, if a little disrupted by the dual narration. perhaps the author needs to hone the dual narration to help with the disjointedness of the story.

Nothing but pornographic trash to this book. It was horrid. Unless you are into BDSM literature, steer clear of this book.

I Wanted More
Revisado: 10-23-19
This book felt rushed and shallow to me, as though the author wanted to be done with this concept and so it was just thrown together to complete a project that had to be done. The problem with that is that there is so much more that could be done with
the ideas in the series and it was left undone.

Not expected!!
Revisado: 06-25-19
The story was good. The narrator was good. Everything was good. What put me off, right away, was being barraged by extremes of unnecessary foul language. Yes I know people talk this way. Yes, I know there are some who say it's good for one's psychological health.
What it is, is an unnecessary grab for attention.

Unexpected

I love a good mystery. I did not like this. It could have had potential if the writer had used plot and storyline more than jumping from one near bedroom scene to the next,

What Happened to the Characters?
Revisado: 04-09-19
I loved the first book and was really excited about listening to the next installment, only to discover that there is a tremendous discontinuity between the two books. I feel like maybe it should just belong to a different series, one which features the angels, both the good angels and the fallen.
It was just very jarring to break up the unfinished story the way it did.

The story of The Count of Monte Cristo remains as wonderful as it has ever been. It is the narration that provides the problem. Not a good voice for the narration of this book at all.

Expectations Met: That's Too Bad
Revisado: 01-16-19
The characters and storyline is good enough, but not only are we told about the Tribulation, the, Illuminati is lingering in the background, and the Luciferians, and everything is the fault of the Catholic church although there was one truly Christian Catholic in the story.
Survivalism and Conspiracy theories mixed in with later thought evangelical theology that may be correct or may be incorrect.
The story was pretty good. The narrator could use some improvement, though. Rather flat and uninflected.
