Historia
The Galahad, a faster-than-light spacecraft, carries 50 scientists and engineers on a mission to prepare Kepler 452b, Earth's nearest habitable neighbor at 1400 light years away. With Earth no longer habitable and the Mars colony slowly failing, they are humanity's best hope. After 10 years in a failed cryogenic bed - body asleep, mind awake - William Chanokh's torture comes to an end as the fog clears, the hatch opens, and his friend and fellow hacker, Tom, greets him...by stabbing a screwdriver into his heart. This is the first time William dies.

A good old-fashioned Heinlein-style space SF epic
Revisado: 04-25-18
If you like your philosophy mixed with cutting edge scientific theory and humanistic humor, this is the book to hear. The performance pulled me into the story, rather than calling attention to itself, exactly the way I like it.

Immaculate
Revisado: 11-06-17
Everything that didn't make sense about the Iraq War will become understandable after reading this book. it is one of the most interesting and accurate spy thrillers of all time, and narrated with perfect timing. I don't think I've ever before been in love with the depth and beauty of so many competing characters.

2nd Half of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Revisado: 09-21-17
Where The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy book ended in a 'to be continued' fashion, this second book in the series wrapped things up nicely. Additional books could be considered sequels, but this should really be considered the necessary second half of the original story: meat and potatoes to round out the first book's salad and dessert. It helps to take a some time and chew more during the main course.

The deepest secrets of the universe told playfully
Revisado: 07-16-17
100 years from now, we'll still be debating whether Neal Stephenson fully understood the secrets he has imparted in this playful and engaging narrative. Is it possible for a science fiction writer to extrapolate more about the core nature of matter than 99% of physicists or, as he writes about in this book, do great fiction writers tap-in subconsciously to the strands of what could be, and sometimes see them for what they are?
If works of science fiction are measured by the amount of deep and important, unique information conveyed in a compelling way to the broadest range of people, this book is sure to become one of humanity's greatest classics. An entire franchise of successful movies could be made on this foundation.
Adding to Stephenson's brilliance in this book, Nicole Galland fleshes out the unique humanity of every age and culture visited, with the excitement and care of someone who has been there and came to love its people.
The audiobook format is perfectly cast with production quality rivaling that of a movie.

Historia
Stories of Your Life and Others presents characters who must confront sudden change-the inevitable rise of automatons or the appearance of aliens-while striving to maintain some sense of normalcy. In the amazing and much-lauded title story (the basis for the 2016 movie Arrival), a grieving mother copes with divorce and the death of her daughter by drawing on her knowledge of alien languages and non-linear memory recollection.

Real Science in an Action Adventure Mystery
Revisado: 05-03-17
Proof Stephenson doesn't need take us to other planets, times or dimensions to spin a uniquely compelling, yet tightly coherent yarn in a world largely alien to most of us. Expertly read with perfect timing and inflection to highlight ironies without pulling the listener out of the story; enunciated clearly, enabling playback in noisy environments or at faster playback speeds.

Historia
Fraa Erasmus is a young avout living in the Concent of Saunt Edhar, a sanctuary for mathematicians, scientists, and philosophers, protected from the corrupting influences of the "Saecular" world by ancient stone, honored traditions, and complex rituals. Over the centuries, cities, and governments have risen and fallen beyond the concent's walls. Three times during history's darkest epochs, bloody violence born of superstition and ignorance has invaded and devastated the cloistered mathic community.

Hardest and Best Payoff
Revisado: 07-25-16
More than even Cryptonomicon, Anathem requires an investment on the part of the reader, to get into the world Stephenson creates. Once there, however, its rich tapestry of social relations makes that world seem more real and inviting than our own. Stephenson's characters and settings form a beautifully detailed and joyful environment that serves as integral foundation for illustrating practical applications of Relational Quantum Physics.
