There’s going to be a book 4. What is it going to be about Public Works? I really am not invested in the next book. I’m not invested in the character that have open endings.

I love the multiple characters and POV's

The story is broken Kauffman and Kristoff do it again. The story was brillIant. I love the twists and turns. It has a huge cliff hanger ending leaving me wanting the next book now.

The cast of narrators are terrific. Their voices are what I would have chosen if I read it.

Incredible journalism. Snooze of a narrator.

The information is very well investigated and paints a vivid timeline of what happened in the 2016 election. The journalists did an excellent job. The work they did to pull all the threads from the federal government, Trump campaign, Clinton campaign, Steele, and other sources was what I've been wanting. I wanted a timeline that put the pieces together. That's what I got and more information I didn't know.

The narrator was dry. Maybe the journalists didn't want someone using too much inflection because it might seem as if a biased opinion was given. What they got was a very monotone narrator that honestly put me to sleep at times. As long as I was moving, I was fine and could absorb the great work of the journalist. As soon as I sat down, I was out like a light.

If 25% of this book is true, America is doomed.

It is shocking to to hear the possibility of the President and the people that surround him are that clueless.

The narrator also does the Nevernight Chronicles, I kept expecting random facts about the history of Godsgrave or Mr Kindly snide comment but no. We just got more shocking information about the U.S. government.

The story was really good. The narrator was off.

The Problem with Forever is a YA contemporary about self discovery with romance. Others would probably disagree with the order in which I labeled it. It is from the POV of Mallory “Mouse” Dodge. I would put this as young as 12-13 years old because it is very tame romantically but does bring up abuse and death. I think is a great book for a girl who might doubt herself when it comes to interacting with others or public speaking.

I have always like/loved JLA’s books. I had preordered the book way back when preorder came out. I really wanted to read this book but I had no time to sit and read, so I got the Audible upgrade to listen while getting things done. I’ll be honest. I did not care for the narrator in this book. She felt flat and it was missing so much. Her male voices were laughable. Let’s just say I only listened to an hour of this before I switched solely to reading. Yes I did listen to the audio clip prior to getting the Audible but that small selection of the book was probably the best the narrator read.

Overall, I felt the story was about Mallory discovery of her as a 17 year old girl. Her early life experiences damaged her view on the world and how she perceived it. She did become involved with Rider romantically; I think it was more part of her growing up. I read some reviews that said she was immature and too grown-up at the same time. She has PSTD. Normal development of emotions can be stunted. So yes, she might have been immature and too grown up, which would be normal for someone with her background.

This story will probably bring tears to people who cry easily. My heart is pretty much stone but I felt many of the emotions Mallory was going through. I think JLA did an incredible job making us feel what Mallory felt.

I added it to my daughter’s Kindle.

A great tale to fill in the gaps

The Assassin’s Blade is the prequel to the Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J Maas. It has the same narrator from the Throne of Glass Series, who did an incredible job. From what I understand, they came out in novella form prior to the release of Throne of Glass in 2013, but were bundled together in one book, The Assassin’s Blade, prior to the release of Crown of Midnight in 2015. I did not read the book until after I finish Crown of Midnight.

DO YOU NEED TO READ THEM TO UNDERSTAND THE THRONE OF GLASS SERIES? No. They do help you understand some of the stories Celaena tells and Celaena’s mind. VERY SMALL SPOILER: They are about Celaena’s fall. You may not like Celaena by the end of the story. I can’t begin to tell you the number of times I wanted to shake and slap her around in this story. She evolves so much throughout the Throne of Glass series. I think hitting rock bottom, helped shape her into a completely different person.

WOULD I RECOMMEND READING THEM? YES! Not because it fills in the gaps but because they are amazing. They are well written and suck you in. SJM’s writing causes you to feel all these emotions. She does a perfect job transporting you to her world. Plus, I wouldn’t doubt that a character or two from The Assassin’s Blade might pop up in last two books from this series. There are characters from the prequel that should be in lands that are our characters are headed to.

A fitting ending for Daemon and Kat

The beginning and near the end of this book gutted me. The rest was delicious and funny. The dual POV continued to be a bonus for me. I love hearing the internal dialogue of Daemon Black. This will continue to be one of my favorite series.

What we loved about the story was missing

My husband and I read The Last Star together. We both loved The 5th Wave. We both like The Infinity Sea. We felt like it was an in-betweener with the purpose of setting up the final book with a grand slam. We weren’t completely sold on The Last Star. The narration was excellent.

It picks up a few weeks after The Infinity Sea. The story started out creepy and all sorts of awesome. Then we get to the main characters. Ringer finds herself in a new mess. Ben, Cassie and Evan were a mess of emotions that seemed off based on their past behaviors. You would think by now that some trust might have been established between them after saving each other’s life again and again, but no. What we both loved about the characters wasn’t there in this book. My husband seemed to think Ringer was written perfectly.

The timing seemed off throughout the story. It was rushed in place and dragged in others. During intense moments with action huge information drops were given leaving you going “what just happened?” Most of what we needed to know happened in the last 25% of the book. There was a lot of filler that didn’t add too much to the overall story. The filler seemed to get the people in the right place for the ending to happen but it wasn’t really interesting to read.

I did love when the plan needed to be implemented it was the girls that did the butt kicking. Go girl power and all that.

I know that many, many readers had a problem about the end. Do I like the ending? I’m on the fence. Did I expect something similar to happen? Yes I did. A life would need to be sacrificed to save the world. It’s a dystopian after all.

My husband and I both agreed we didn’t like it but it was better than okay. 3.5 stars.

We finally hear Deamon's POV

I loved this book because we finally get to hear what is going on in Daemon’s head with the dual POV. This book can be hard to read/listen to because of what happens to Katy and Daemon at the hands of Daedalus. There is betrayal from friends. There is a lot of heart breaking death. The ending is a huge cliffhanger too.

Finally Daemon and Katie get together. Their problems with DOD and Blake have only started. The ending is brutal no many times you read or hear it.
