Historia
Thousands of readers have come home to Mitford, the little town with the big heart, whose endearing and eccentric residents have become like family members. But now change is coming to the hamlet. Father Tim, the Episcopal rector, and his wife Cynthia are pondering retirement; a brash new mayoral candidate is calling for aggressive development; a suspicious realtor with plans for a health spa is eyeing the beloved house on the hill; and, worst of all, the Sweet Stuff Bakery may be closing.

It’s abridged and we are outraged!
Revisado: 05-22-24
It’s not read by the gentleman we’ve come to enjoy hearing. The authoress read it herself and she didn’t do a great job. The worst part is that it’s abridged! We could have suffered through the lady reading it if it wasn’t so truncated. We use these audiobooks as a way to wind down at night and we feel cheated that we were given only about 3 hours with this story and the characters we’ve come to love. We decided we didn’t like listening to this book and quit the whole series. We will happily return to it when/if the usual narrator returns to read this book in its entirety. As it is, we are not recommending this series in book or audio format, to anyone. We are terribly disappointed.

Historia
In this fifth book in the Magykal series, Septimus ends up on a captivatingly beautiful island, one of seven set in a sparkling sea. He's stranded there with his badly injured dragon, Spit Fyre, along with Jenna and Beetle. There are some strange things about the island, including a Magykal girl named Syrah, a cat-shaped lighthouse that has lost its Light, and an eerie presence that sings to Septimus - can he escape the persistent call?

Love these books!
Revisado: 12-14-22
I love these books! Though I have read and re-read many times, this is the first time hearing them and I found the narrator to be superb! I’ll be looking up more books read by him. I hope that the sequel triplet, Sandrider, will soon be found on audible in its entirety.
