Good Story despite the atheistic & socialist propaganda

This was a fun story but the main character is quite the Gary Sue and has a tendency to get on his soapbox to complain about "rich" people despite his own easily earned wealth. He also loves to complain and lecture to others about their views of what constitutes right and wrong despite pushing his own morality on them. He complains about one of the other adventurers killing monsters when he turns right around and slaughters a couple of "handfuls" of adventurers with Zero remorse, until he thinks about it later and suddenly he feels bad about it but only a little. This feels disjointed and quite out of character.

BUT the story is definitely fun and engaging, due in no small part to his near Deadpool esque-humor/ snark and the small section about 3/4 of the way in where the story takes on some mystery / investigation aspects.

if your wondering what his magic system is like, it reminds me a LOT of Dakota Krout's magic essence system in his Dungeon Born series.

If you enjoy High Fantasy/ Lit RPG, Stranger in a Strange World / Fish Out of Water type stories, and if you aren't too bothered by cynical leftist preachiness then this story is for you.

the plot and idea are awesome.

As a writer myself I tend to judge books more harshly. I did love these books (which are obviously vastly superior to the movies) but there were small things that I caught that could be improved, mostly missed chances for description and details and overuse of a few key words the main one being how often things "surprised" Thomas. Overall I do recommend you give it a listen (or read) at least once.

It t[k me a while to get use to the narrator but by the end I could hear why he was picked. He was great at giving each character their own voice. awesome all around.
