Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Really enjoyed the first half of the book but seemed to get more down and sad just kept hoping for some happy times. The reader is fabulous I think he is the best reader I've heard. I felt interested enough to continue and overall I didn't dislike the book.

Great fun and a little history too!
Revisado: 11-20-13
Where does Rhythm and Bluegrass rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Well for a lighthearted read which I seem to look for more and more, maybe the news is always a bummer ...I think it was great. The story was good and I felt the research for the story line informative.
What other book might you compare Rhythm and Bluegrass to and why?
And one more thing.. same lighthearted fun romance but I found myself belly laughing at the one more thing, this one almost hit the mark but certianly worth the read.
Which scene was your favorite?
I guess the car burning scene
Any additional comments?
I would recomend this to my friends for just a fun book.

The demon is a mob, and the mob is demonic. The Democratic Party activates mobs, depends on mobs, coddles mobs, publicizes and celebrate mobs - it is the mob. Sweeping in its scope and relentless in its argument, Demonic explains the peculiarities of liberals as standard groupthink behavior. To understand mobs is to understand liberals.

Historia
Tawawa House in many respects is like any other American resort before the Civil War. Situated in Ohio, this idyllic retreat is particularly nice in the summer when the Southern humidity is too much to bear. The main building, with its luxurious finishes, is loftier than the white cottages that flank it, but the smaller structures are better positioned to catch any breeze that may come off the pond. And they provide more privacy, which best suits the needs of the Southern white men who vacation there every summer.

Revisado: 09-16-12
What did you love best about Wench?
The Reader was Excellent! Story was ok and I did enjoy the book It is just that I've read this kind of thing before. The other thing I would mention is the book is not a feel good kind of read I always felt a little sad while reading and even a short while after turning it off. So If you need a pick me up put this on off for a while, but still read because we should know how bad it is in bondage I feel it is worth the read and everyone should know the truth.

Carl Mørck used to be one of Denmark’s best homicide detectives. Then a hail of bullets destroyed the lives of two fellow cops, and Carl - who didn’t draw his weapon - blames himself. So a promotion is the last thing he expects. But Department Q is a department of one, and Carl’s got only a stack of cold cases for company. His colleagues snicker, but Carl may have the last laugh, because one file keeps nagging at him: A liberal politician vanished five years earlier and is presumed dead. But she isn’t dead...yet.

The marriage of Marc Antony and Cleopatra is one of the greatest love stories of all time, a tale of unbridled passion with earth-shaking political consequences. Feared and hunted by the powers in Rome, the lovers choose to die by their own hands as the triumphant armies of Antony's vengeful rival, Octavian, sweep into Egypt. Their three orphaned children are taken in chains to Rome; only two---the 10-year-old twins Selene and Alexander---survive the journey.

Good history
Revisado: 02-16-12
If you could sum up Cleopatra's Daughter in three words, what would they be?
Interesting history lesson
Would you be willing to try another book from Michelle Moran? Why or why not?
Not sure
Have you listened to any of Wanda McCaddon’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
she was good, not sure if I remember any other of her performances
If you could take any character from Cleopatra's Daughter out to dinner, who would it be and why?
The man the daughter ended up marrying. He was a very interesting man.
Any additional comments?
This story just never grabbed me, the characters were not developed enough but the history I learned from the book was terrific. So I guess I would say, if this time in history is interesting to you, you should read the book. I hope this helps, I read this as a book for my book group and someone said the book was written for young readers which could be why it just didn't have what I would call depth.
