It’s a good one, but not great

Great characters, great storyline, excellent narration, but I felt like the story dragged on too much before the angst/conflict. It was several hours too long.

Great series, but this book and narrator did not do it for me

Needed the narrator for the first 5 books in the series. Perhaps it’s a better read? These two MC’s didn’t spark like the other’s in the series.

Unexpected

Didn’t Finish

I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series except the first book (Street Smart - which was just ok). I forgot that it was my least favorite and Play Smart is a spin off of Street Smart. I stopped around chapter 7. It’s too slow, characters are not well developed and the story line is a little all over the place. There is conflict, but I’m not buying into it, nor why any of the main characters of this book would be invested in resolving it. There are several side stories too that hinder and distract from whatever main story line is taking place. I could go on. Then there’s the male narrator, he sounds like he’s reading and not performing. That wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me with a more engaging story, but coupled with slow confusing story line…it’s a no for me.

My favorite in the series

This is a standalone, but also part of the Gemini series. It’s a slow burn/sweet/HEA. My only complaint is the narration sounded robotic and like and AI voice (especially the male narrator).

A refreshing departure from typical story lines

Entertaining story but…

I lived in Beaufort, SC for many years and I cringed every time the narrators mispronounced Beaufort. I know this sounds picky, but there is a Beaufort in NC and SC and they said it the way you would in NC, and it’s an important distinction for people from these areas. I hardly ever review books and I hate to leave anything negative bc I did enjoy the series.

This series has been fun and easy to listen to. Lots of interesting characters, plot twists, ups and downs and happy endings. However…the editing with this latest book is driving me mad.

Beautiful and unexpected

My favorite of the Butler Cove series. In the first two books Jazz and Joey were great supporting characters, but in All That Jazz, they shined and took center stage. Everything from the characters, their stories, their conflict and their history…was exceptional and had me wanting more. This was not a cookie cutter predictable story chock full of female characters lacking in self confidence just waiting for their Prince Charming to sweep them off their feet. Jazz was raw, honest, authentic, and so refreshing! A great example of grit, perseverance and forgiveness. Also, the performance was one of the best I’ve heard in a while. Look forward to more books by this author.
