Historia
The picturesque village of Bunburry is about to be enhanced by the late Mrs Benson's mansion being transformed into a luxury hotel. But when the project is sabotaged, who is responsible? Careless workers, a disgruntled rival, a vengeful ex-husband, Mrs Benson's criminal nephew, or Mrs Benson's troubled ghost? After damage comes death, and it's up to amateur sleuth Alfie McAlister, his friends Liz and Marge, and police constable Emma Hollis to uncover the truth.

Weak conclusion, great narrator
Revisado: 10-23-21
This has a rather weak conclusion. The perpetrator wasn't even a part of the story until the end. This seems like it was a last minute ending. The narrator is great!

Historia
Myron hasn't heard from Terese Collins in years. Not since their affair ended with no explanation. There had been no contact since, so her call catches him off guard. She's in Paris, she says, in trouble, and only Myron can help. She tells him a sad story she's never before revealed: a good marriage, her struggles to get pregnant, the happiest moment of her life when her only child was born, the day everything she'd ever loved was taken from her.

Too convoluted
Revisado: 07-13-20
I usually love Harlan's perfect plots but this was convoluted and a challenge to follow. Even the narrator seemed to struggle at times.

Historia
In "A Murderous Ride," the second Bunburry book, Alfie discovers that he has not only inherited a cottage from his late Aunt Augusta but also a 1950s Jaguar. He is dismayed: for reasons of his own, he no longer drives. Aunt Augusta's best friends, Liz and Marge, persuade him to get behind the wheel again - but that's just the start of his troubles. Alfie discovers it's a seriously bad idea to get on the wrong side of the local police sergeant. Especially when he finds himself at a murder scene and the sergeant decides Alfie's the murderer. There's only one thing to be done.

Killer wasn't even on the radar until 30 from end
Revisado: 05-23-20
I won't be downloading this author again. I gave this author a second try, thinking that the first story being bad was a fluke... It wasn't. This story focused more on the main character's past and paid very little attention to the murder. It's as if the author forgot that they were writing a mystery and waited until about 30 minutes until the end before the main character is clued-in about the murderer from a random conversation in a restaurant. The killer wasn't even a main person in the story that you would even think about. This was a weak plot anf it's the second time so I'm done with this author. I love the narrator! I'll look for him.

Historia
Nobody loves an honest man, or that was what police sergeant Hamish Macbeth tried to tell newcomer Paul English. Paul had moved to a house in Cnothan, a sour village on Hamish's beat. He attended church in Lochdubh. He told the minister, Mr. Wellington, that his sermons were boring. He told tweedy Mrs. Wellington that she was too fat and in these days of increasing obesity it was her duty to show a good example. Angela Brody was told her detective stories were pap for the masses and it was time she wrote literature instead. He accused Hamish of having dyed his fiery red hair.

Low Quality With No Concern for Plot Flow
Revisado: 06-21-18
I've listened to every last one of the books. This one seem to be the one that liked the most planning. It is disjointed and doesn't flow well. It jumps from one scene to another scene with a conclusion with nothing building up to the conclusion. All of a sudden at the end, he proposes to the reporter out of nowhere. This is my least favorite book. it says if there was a deadline and the author "phoned it in" rather than creating quality.

Historia
A 30-year-old death haunts Alan Nesbitt, former Chief Constable in Cornwall. Back in 1968, a beautiful 20-year-old girl was found dead on the rocks, presumably having jumped from the cliffs. All that was known about her was her age, that she had had a child six months earlier, and that she weighed about ninety pounds. Nesbitt got nowhere with the investigation, and he regrets it.

Plot doesn't make sense
Revisado: 06-16-18
I struggled to finish this story. The narrator does a good job switching between accents however the American accent is almost Pollyanna type. It contributed to the story being less believable. Also, the conclusion of a story is way too loose and is as if the author wasn't able to tie it up while. This is the second book I've listened to but won't be listening to anymore by this author.

Unnecessarily verbose and Characters Blend
Revisado: 11-27-16
The character voices sometimes hard to tell who's talking at Leroy too many words added in that weren't necessary and did not add to the conversation. I love the accent and the way narrator portrayed Hector. Weak story.

Narrator Saved Story
Revisado: 05-11-16
this story was predictable and the foreshadowing of who was going to be killed did not help at all. Also comma when there are black people in a story, the narrator should work harder to make them more Genuine Voice as she did with the Indian woman. The narrator is the only thing that made me push through the story while I was driving. Applied just was not good nor was it holding my attention. I found a few times then my mind wandered from the story and when I got back to it I hadn't missed much to make a plot change or for me to remind to see what I've missed. I won't be listening to this other again but I will be listening to the narrator.

Way too long and boring
Revisado: 08-13-11
Davina Porter is one of my favorite narrators and she was the main positive. I listen to audio books on road trips and this one drew out far too long and the use of "aqualine" was too much in describing the people. I remember wondering if everyone looked alike other than hair color and height. Not a great book for a long drive because it makes the drive seem even longer with its length. It drags out.
