Historia
To the wider world, Al Pacino exploded onto the scene like a supernova. He landed his first leading role, in The Panic in Needle Park, in 1971, and by 1975, he had starred in four movies—The Godfather and The Godfather Part II, Serpico, and Dog Day Afternoon—that were not just successes but landmarks in the history of film. Those performances became legendary and changed his life forever. Not since Marlon Brando and James Dean in the late 1950s had an actor landed in the culture with such force.

Pacino’s Spirit
Revisado: 10-21-24
I loved it. Imagine Al Pacino sitting across the table from you - just you and him, a nice beverage between you, and Al is telling you his life story. It is a wonderful story with great ups & downs, full of pathos, and humor told in his intimate gravelly voice. His story is told in an unhurried pace, using specific detail that puts you absolutely there with him and his vivid memories. No words can accurately describe this beautiful heartfelt engaging story. It’s a masterpiece!

Great story and characters
Revisado: 08-01-24
The Deep Blue Goodbye highlights MacDonald’s great characters, fine writing and perfect pacing.
While the narrator is excellent for Travis McKee, but he doesn’t do women’s voices as well. Still it doesn’t detract from overall performance.

Funny, touching, brilliant. Christopher Buckley is a master satirist. It was so good, I listened to it twice so far, and no doubt I’ll listen to it every couple of years. Very few books actually make me laugh. This one is a gem!!

Revisado: 06-25-23
If you like Lawerence Block, this is his best - in my opinion. Up until this very early Block novel, I’d only listen if Joe Barrett narrated, but this one was so well written that I hung in. To my surprise, Dan Butler was easily as good as Joe, yet in a different way. Great early Block novel. 1989!

Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.
