Historia
It's back to a new school term for the kids. Their mums - Gemma and Becky - are breathing a huge sigh of relief and reaching for the gin bottle. Except for the fact that Becky appears to be accidentally a little bit pregnant.... But that's not the first shock for the parents in the playground. Over the summer, part of their beloved Redcoats Primary has burned down. The school needs to raise thousands of pounds to stay open - and Gemma and Becky have been forced on to the fund-raising committee (just to add to the millions of messages from their online parent groups).

Hilarious
Revisado: 09-12-23
I just realised that I never review this book. So let me start:
This book is the epitome of parenthood, it’s raw and real. It’s hilarious, even when listening to it every year since it was released. It’s my go to listen when I feel like a crappy mum and my go to when I have a good week. It’s an all round season book, both of them, that is still funny, cringy and real.
I hope that we are blessed with more books from Kathryn, because everyone needs feel-good, laugh-out-loud books in today’s time.
So to make it clear, since her books were released, I’ve listened to them for 4-3 years every year and they are still BRILLIANT!

Historia
Eight-year-old orphan Beth Harmon is quiet, sullen, and by all appearances unremarkable. That is, until she plays her first game of chess. Her senses grow sharper, her thinking clearer, and for the first time in her life she feels herself fully in control. By the age of 16, she's competing for the US Open championship. But as Beth hones her skills on the professional circuit, the stakes get higher, her isolation grows more frightening, and the thought of escape becomes all the more tempting.

Masterpiece!
Revisado: 03-17-21
This was amazing! Yes, the narrator read slow, but as soon as you are used the her voice, keep at it! I watched the series on Netflix and wish I could erase it from my mind and watch it again. The best part is, the book is no different from the series! This is a brilliant and beautiful book and I cannot recommend the book or series enough. If you read this, get the book. Just get it and enjoy!

Historia
There is no cure for being who you truly are.… In a cottage high atop Llanfair Mountain, sixteen-year-old Clara lives with her sister, Maren, and guardian Auntie. By day, they gather herbs for Auntie's healing potions. By night, Auntie spins tales of faraway lands and wicked fairies. Clara's favorite story tells of three orphan infants—Clara, who was brought to Auntie by a stork; Maren, who arrived in a seashell; and their best friend, O'Neill, who was found beneath an apple tree. One day, Clara discovers shimmering scales just beneath her sister's skin.

I loved this book, yes the storyline was predictable, but it still had you shooked you at times. The story between Clara and O’Neill was at times frustrating and the author brought everything together beautifully.
This is one of those books that is best suited for those who has to drive alone to work. Saying that, my drive to work is 80mins a day and kept me company during my lonely drive.

Historia
Gemma is only just holding it together - she's a single parent, she's turning 40 and her seven-year-old daughter has drawn a cruelly accurate picture which locates Gemma's boobs somewhere around her knees. So when her new next-door neighbour, Becky, suggests that Gemma should start dating again, it takes a lot of self-control not to laugh in her face. But Becky is very persuasive and before long Gemma finds herself juggling a full-time job, the increasingly insane demands of the school mums' Facebook group and the tricky etiquette of a new dating world.

Amazing!!!
Revisado: 05-26-19
I decided to buy this book, seeing as Kathryn is so funny talking about the daily struggles of motherhood. She did not disappoint...not even a little. It had the same feeling as Bridget Jones, but with the saying of “the struggle is real”. I was able to related to both Becky and Gemma, and rooted for both to fulfill their pack! Thank you Kathryn, but I need more!

Historia
From the Orange Prize-winning, internationally best-selling author of The Song of Achilles comes the powerful story of the mythological witch Circe, inspired by Homer's Odyssey. In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe has neither the look nor the voice of divinity and is scorned and rejected by her kin. Increasingly isolated, she turns to mortals for companionship, leading her to discover a power forbidden to the gods: witchcraft.

I can write an essay and hope the review is read, but in the end it comes down to if the book is good or bad.
This book is excellent! Perdita Weeks voice is hypnotizing, it draws you in, makes you see everything in colour! I loved every min of this book!

Historia
Born a generation apart and with very different ideas about love and family, Mariam and Laila are two women brought jarringly together by war, by loss, and by fate. As they endure the ever escalating dangers around them, in their home as well as in the streets of Kabul, they come to form a bond that makes them both sisters and mother-daughter to each other, and that will ultimately alter the course not just of their own lives but of the next generation.

This was one of our prescribed books at varsity, I did not read it, after I read The Kite runner the previous year. The book was so emotional, that I was scared to read this one.
I love this book. Short and sweet. It was amazing, I looked for excuses to listen to the book, to make time. I’m sad that it’s done, but wow! This is an eyeopener!

Elizabeth's sister Saoirse is a red-haired whirlwind, always leaving behind pieces that Elizabeth struggles to pick up. One of those pieces is Saoirse's six-year-old son, Luke, a quiet, contemplative boy. When Luke is playing in Elizabeth's garden one day, and witnessing the latest scene between his mother and his aunt, a friend named Ivan walks into his life. This unexpected and rather mysterious friend will change Luke - but will have an even greater impact on Elizabeth.

GYM BUDDY
Revisado: 07-05-18
I’m now working my way through all Cecelia Ahern’s books, and they are the best gym buddies a girl can have!
I’ve read this book a few years ago, but it came to live in this audiobook! At times I was laughing and other times I was close to tears, but most of the time I looked like an idiot with my goofy grin!
Ivan is by far my favorite!

Some of the choices she’s made – and stories she’s told – aren’t what they seem either

I listen to audiobooks while I’m at the gym, and I might have freaked out some people with my goofy grin with this book! I loved it, at times I wanted to cry, scream in frustration or laugh at Lucy’s antics!
