Historia
No one worries much about the scantily clad woman found strangled in the Orchid Motel, she must be a tourist who brought along her own problems. But when the victim turns out to be the wife of an up-and-coming lawyer, people begin looking suspiciously among themselves for the culprit, and Judge Deborah Knott learns her cousin possesses a mighty powerful motive. While Deborah searches for the vicious killer, a deadly hurricane rages up the Carolina coast, bringing destruction and its own kind of justice.

Lackluster

Semi General Spoilers....
The general plot idea should have been easy to do well, either Deb, kin, & friends are trapped inside with a killer by the hurricane or maybe the killer is trying to get in but the calvary can't get there due to the storm....
Instead the storm is poorly incorporated, the killer dies in a random accident (so the author is saved from having to come up with a 'how'd he do it) and everything is severely anti-climatic. When you stop to think about it, most of what the various characters did during the whole story makes very little sense.
Least of the series and I must have read about half the Knott saga

Historia
In December 2017 the famous porn star August Ames committed suicide in a park in the Conejo Valley. It happened a day after she’d been the victim of a pile-on, via Twitter, by fellow porn professionals - punishment for her tweeting something deemed homophobic. A month later, August’s husband, Kevin, connected with Jon Ronson to tell the story of how Twitter bullying killed his wife. What neither Kevin nor Ronson realized was that Ronson would soon hear rumors and secrets hinting at a very different story - something mysterious and unexpected and terrible.

So Annoying
Revisado: 01-29-19
All the characters come off so annoying, I know it's supposed to be a true story but it's more of a poor fan fiction Cormoran Strike novel, I can't finish this even at 3 hours and change, more gossip than journalism.

Historia
“I have sensed a disturbance in the Force.” Ominous words under any circumstances, but all the more so when uttered by Emperor Palpatine. On Batuu, at the edges of the Unknown Regions, a threat to the Empire is taking root - its existence little more than a glimmer, its consequences as yet unknowable. But it is troubling enough to the Imperial leader to warrant investigation by his most powerful agents: ruthless enforcer Lord Darth Vader and brilliant strategist Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Mediocre
Revisado: 07-29-18
Didn't really learn anything new about the Chiss as one would hope, nor very much about a new faction, can't even picture what the new ones look like... Author seemed to have been given a list of things to get in to aid future marketing plans which would be fine for some random author but this is Zahn who should be left hands-off. This author knows how to write compelling B-stories and characters, but none of that here. Vader and Thrawn had so many repetitive arguments.

Historia
Before cell phones that fit in the palm of your hand and slim laptops that fit snugly into briefcases, computers were like strange, alien vending machines. They had cryptic switches, punch cards, and pages of encoded output. But in 1975, a young engineering wizard named Steve Wozniak had an idea: What if you combined computer circuitry with a regular typewriter keyboard and a video screen?

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Patrick Lawlor?
Pee Wee Herman
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
very few
Any additional comments?
Read the book figuring this would be the less egotistical more down to earth of the Apple Pair, but he comes off as so full of himself and so obnoxious, must have congratulated himself on his intelligence three dozen times already. Apparently both Jobs and Woz are total jerks.

Bitter Disappointment
Revisado: 01-18-17
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Writing in the old Anne Rice style, not our favorites acting out of character and doing stupid things just to service the plot in TV hack writer fashion
Would you ever listen to anything by Anne Rice again?
Less and less likely with each novel

Historia
"You've long set your heart against it, Axl, I know. But it's time now to think on it anew. There's a journey we must go on, and no more delay..." The Buried Giant begins as a couple set off across a troubled land of mist and rain in the hope of finding a son they have not seen in years. Sometimes savage, often intensely moving, Kazuo Ishiguro's first novel in nearly a decade is about lost memories, love, revenge, and war.

Avoid the Mist... and this book
Revisado: 06-03-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Listened to Remains of the Day again instead
What could Kazuo Ishiguro have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Write a story that was not such a mess that I wasn't sure whether the chapters were playing out of sequence of that the story was just that bad
Would you listen to another book narrated by David Horovitch?
Yes
What character would you cut from The Buried Giant?
The Giant
Any additional comments?
I read the end on Wikipedia, glad I didn't waste further time on the book and stopped when I did.

Lesser sequel to Druids
Revisado: 09-28-14
What did you like best about The Greener Shore? What did you like least?
Picks up the story of Ainvar and the Druids
What could Morgan Llywelyn have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Wrapped up more plotlines, most were very briefly wrapped up (or not at all) after long builds: the fate of Ainvar/Briga's first child, leaving the first tribe on bad terms, one significant character being killed in an apparent tribal politics power struggle, the mysterious older race, Ainvar losing and regaining his powers or confidence (never clear which) ad nauseum
Would you listen to another book narrated by Simon Vance?
Preferably one about Dracula or Translyvania from which the Gaulish-Irish characters seemed to have gotten their accents somehow
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No
