Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Remarkably bright story!
Revisado: 07-08-23
I can’t believe this is a debut novel! Masterfully, woven plot and characters, and the setting was a character in itself. Especially the deep sea. Kudos to Shelby Van Pelt! I look forward to reading many more of her novels! And kudos to Marcellus for being so darn cool.

I have a dozen memoir writing books…
Revisado: 07-03-23
But I’ve just decided to set those aside and focus just on Rachel’s. I also ordered a paper copy because I know myself; I will be able to go back to the sections I need much more easily in the paperback copy, but I am super glad I listened to this on Audible first. She covers absolutely everything. Highly recommended.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Historia
Juniper French was born four months early, at 23 weeks' gestation. She weighed one pound, four ounces, and her twiggy body was the length of a Barbie doll. Her head was smaller than a tennis ball, her skin was nearly translucent, and through her chest you could see her flickering heart. Babies like Juniper, born at the edge of viability, trigger the question: Which is the greater act of love - to save her or to let her go? Kelley and Thomas French chose to fight for Juniper's life, and this is their incredible tale.

Revisado: 10-14-22
When my friend told me she knew Tom and Kelley French and that they had a must-hear audiobook about their extreme preemie who spent many months in the NICU at the hospital where my own daughter is a nurse and who has worked in the NICU, I felt I should listen, almost an obligation. I didn’t know that this audiobook would knock my socks off. It’s a drive-around-the-block one more time to hear more before going home audiobook! An unbelievable tale of resilience told by parents who happen to be superb professional writers. Baby Junebug will stay with me…a medical miracle whose story taught me that sound is touch. And I am touched.

Self Help Book to End All Self Help Books
Revisado: 07-27-19
Read it and reap! What’s different about this book is Jen’s fun, snarky, but very earnest advice. She cuts to the chase. I wrote down her best commentaries, observations, and recommendations in a notebook, and they filled pages! You’ll need both the audio version to hear Jen’s enthusiasm as she narrates plus a hard copy to highlight. Plus there are good books listed at the back that she highly recommends. So glad I found this gem!

Historia
In November 2014, 13 members of the Biden family gathered on Nantucket for Thanksgiving, a tradition they had been celebrating for the past 40 years; it was the one constant in what had become a hectic, scrutinized, and overscheduled life. The Thanksgiving holiday was a much-needed respite, a time to connect, a time to reflect on what the year had brought, and what the future might hold. But this year felt different from all those that had come before.

Revisado: 09-11-18
Enter Jamie Elder’s gritty world of poker and all its trials, tribulations, and heartbreak. What, you’re not into poker? Neither was I, but Gale Massey draws you into Jamie’s world and soon you’re wondering how exactly DOES her felonious mother pull that ace so deftly off the bottom of the pile when she’s dealing to a judge, a cop, and a giant who is sporting a dazzling Super Bowl ring. This novel captivates. Its twists, turns, surprises, multi-faceted characters, descriptive narration, and multiple points of view all work together to make this a zinger! Highly recommend!

I didn’t know it was this bad! I’ve been a fan of Dr. Fuhrman for many years, and I lost 67 pounds on Eat to Live, but I put back on about 20 over the years. Sadly, I slipped back into fast food. You will be impressed and horrified by the dangers of fast food and will avoid it like the plague it is. Thanks, Dr. Fuhrman for saving lives.
