Historia
Headmaster Luke Lawson is committed to saving his boarding school before a cash crisis sinks it. He'll do anything to keep it afloat, even if that means accepting help from the man who broke his heart at uni. Nathan's offer to teach for free could be a blessing as long as Luke can harden his bruised heart. That's tough when they'll need to share living quarters and have a history of hook-ups. But Luke knows being compatible in bed isn't enough to build trust. It can't be when Nathan has always left him before morning.

Wonderfully Satisfying!
Revisado: 03-27-23
I still can't get enough of this world and can't wait for the next in the series to be available on Audible. Luke and Nathan have known each other for more than 10 years and haven't been able to be more than casual with benefits. It turns out they both want more and this is their second chance journey to find each other framed within an overarching ongoing challenge to the school. Along the way are past traumas, present barriers and a lot of doing the heavy lifting in the communication arena. As in previous books in this title, the issues are very real, the struggles legitimate and moving. Each of the MCs is relatable and I found myself cheering them on and so pleased with how they came together.
These books need to be discovered and experienced to be believed!

Historia
Life should be a breeze for a playboy like Charles Heppel. As the third son of an earl, he lives for the moment, partying and playing. Settling down isn't for him. Not when London is full of beautiful men who he hasn't one-and-done yet. To escape his family's nagging, Charles applies for a temp job that matches his playful skill set. A role in a Cornish classroom could be his until the summer, if Charles meets two conditions: he must move in with the headmaster's best friend, and teach him to be happy.

Unexpected Jewel
Revisado: 03-27-23
I happened upon this book and this series by accident and immediately wanted to stay in this world. The flaws and challenges faced by the characters are real and uncontrived and their progress towards resolving them is earned and satisfying. Building their relationship took time and real communication and there were some laughs and some heartache along the way. Both Charles and Hugo had depth and were relatable in their struggles.
I was initially unsure how this narrator would handle the variety of characters in the story but he did so without sounding forced or false in any way.
There were some heavy subjects handled with grace and a skill not always seen in romantic fiction and I found that very satisfying. Love, love, love this story!

Contrived Conflict
Revisado: 12-15-22
Bought it for the narrators but DNF about halfway through. Enjoyed Kale Williams' narration as ALWAYS and his character seemed very relatable to me. Pitied the narrator who had to do Danny. I found Danny to be immature and inflammatory towards the other character. Danny even admits in his inner monologue that he's provoking Prescott just because he wants to. I don't understand why a character (Prescott) who has been quite poorly treated with no explanation by another character is still supposed to be attracted to and doting on the abusive character. An incident or two, maybe, but continuously? I was really hoping to see some remorse and correction on Danny's part but finally gave up. Another reviewer said they acted like children instead of the 30 something adults they are supposed to be and I agree. I'm not sure where all the sweetness other reviewers mention comes into play but I'm guessing its a ways after I gave up.

How I Wish There Were a Book 3
Revisado: 01-24-21
This was a fun and intriguing second book in the series. Wolf and Tristan learn more about trusting and relying on each other and deal with a creepy crawly ghost mystery as well. New characters are introduced - Wolf's cousins, including Sey and Cin (who could probably hold down his own series) - who I'd like to hear more about.
There was humor, fear, sadness and some fun inside references that made me smile to catch. I like these two guys and would love to read more in their world.
Tristan James is one of my favorite narrators and I loved hearing his performance here. The ending of this book made it so clear where a third book could pick up and I just WISH there was one. Please, Ms. Ford?

Jarring Police Depiction
Revisado: 11-16-18
I really enjoy the narrator's performance of these books. Mr. Marsters just seems to BE Harry Dresden. That is a fantastic part of these books.
On the flip side, as a law enforcement professional myself, I find the main detective's procedures to be appalling. Repeated physical attack on an unresisting and retrained suspect is criminal police brutality. A detective should be well trained and intelligent enough to conduct a professional interview - without constantly jumping to conclusions and assaulting the suspect. And that said - why on earth would Harry continue to want to assist her? "She's really cute" doesn't cut it after a while.
Aside from this unfortunately distasteful character, the stories are interesting and fun.

Historia
From Terry Pratchett's famed Discworld series. 14-year-old Eric is the first ever demonology hacker. Fortunately, he doesn't succeed in raising any devils, but he does raise Rincewind (the most incompetent wizard in the universe) and the Luggage (the world's most dangerous travel accessory).

Rincewind Filler
Revisado: 01-12-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Eric to be better than the print version?
I have not read Eric - I've only listened to the audiobook. A couple of times I did think it would be helpful to me to be able to 'flip back' and check a description or bit of dialog.
Would you be willing to try another book from Terry Pratchett? Why or why not?
Always! I love the Discworld and have about half of the books on audio. I always enjoy a look at the world through Terry's Pratchett's eyes.
Which character – as performed by Stephen Briggs – was your favorite?
Rincewind was my favorite as Stephen Briggs always portrays him true to himself and familiar.
Any additional comments?
This was a short installment in the series and seems like an earlier run at some of the world building books Terry Pratchett wrote after this. That said, it was, as always, an enjoyable twist on some familiar material: the Trojan War, the Odessy, the circles of Hell, creation, etc.

Historia
Mort, like many teenagers, is gangly, unpromising, and struggling with a menial job - in his case, as Death's apprentice. He can barely handle his simple task of ushering souls out of Discworld, but he really screws up when he meets the beautiful Princess Keli, who is scheduled to be assassinated. Going against his boss's wishes, Mort kills Keli's assassin instead, which angers and interferes with Fate. But Mort's heroism seems to be for naught, since Discworld proceeds as though Keli had been killed.

Witty, fun and satisfying!
Revisado: 12-12-11
Where does Mort rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Mort is a good middle entry in the list of audiobooks I've listened to so far - and most of my books are Discworld novels.
What other book might you compare Mort to and why?
To me, Mort was similar to Small Gods because you have the young male protagonist finding his place in the world through awkward, madcap and often moving adventures.
Which scene was your favorite?
I enjoyed the scene where one of Mort's first clients walks him through the process of collecting a soul.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
As always in the books featuring Death and his associates, I find Terry Pratchett's handling of the process of death to be sensible, thought provoking and dignified - for a given value of 'dignified'.
Any additional comments?
I'm working my way through the series - in no particular order and many re-reads or -listens. I love evey story for the value it brings to the whole; for the way it can stand on it's own; for the way they make me laugh, cry and think. Fortunately, I still have several to go and I wish the series would never end.
