Well I started the trilogy so I have to finish it. I’m sucked in and generally it keeps getting better. But jeez, the whole “romance” is just a whole lot of stupid and selfishness. Except, it worked for it in the end, but during I made a TON of eyerolls. But I’m ready for the last one!

The story was boring and a little drab. I wouldn’t call it a Gothic romance at all. Aside from the year it takes place nothing else fits really. Maryann had little to no personality, and was just purely dumb. Her submissiveness was the most genuine and likable part of her. Darius is the perfect man. The sexy scenes were good though and the readers were great. Although listening to a man read as a woman at times during the steamy scenes gave me a good giggle.

A Great Performance of an Excellent Story

I just couldn’t get into it. The narrator was good and all, even finished it. But it felt so lackluster and ehhhh...I tried to give up listening to it so many times, I decided to return it though. I think I’m just tired of the same old storylines on different days. I love Stephen king, but not my favorite.
