Interesting romp into fantasy

The beginning starts off a bit grandiose but turns into a fairly nice story about a series of different fantasy encounters. What is different from other stories lately is it describes a twenty four year old being immersed into a new situation instead of having to go through the development of a younger person without lousing the ability to care for and feel empathy for the plights of another person or peoples.

As great or better than Brandon Sanderson's recent works, Jim butcher and Patrick Rothfuss.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Julius Heartstriker, for his devotion to his moral path and choices. Marcy for her development as a person.
What about Vikas Adam’s performance did you like?
His voice was wonderful for the work, it colored in the dragon snarls.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Can't give much without spoiling the ending and that wouldn't be very kind of me.
