Historia
Everyone in Saxford St Peter flocks to Lovelace Sunday, the festival celebrating the romantic history of beautiful Lovelace Manor. This year will be even more exciting, as famous TV historian Cammie Harington is planning a spectacular stunt with a hot-air balloon for her new show. Eve Mallow jumps at the chance to volunteer–it’s a great people-watching opportunity. But she soon realizes there is no love lost between Cammie and the family that owns the manor...so why did Cammie agree to come? When Cammie’s hot-air balloon tumbles from the sky, Eve feels sure this is no accident.

Good Story - Poor Narration
Revisado: 08-31-22
Made the mistake of starting the series with this book. The story line was mostly entertaining but at times unbelievable.
The Narrator was very difficult to listen to and I will avoid her work in the future. I almost gave up listening several times because her voice was so grating.

Historia
Since she was nine years old, Alina Dziak knew she would marry her best friend, Tomasz. Now 15 and engaged, Alina is unconcerned by reports of Nazi soldiers at the Polish border, believing her neighbors that they pose no real threat, and dreams instead of the day Tomasz returns from college in Warsaw so they can be married. But little by little, injustice by brutal injustice, the Nazi occupation takes hold, and Alina’s tiny rural village, its families, are divided by fear and hate. Then, as the fabric of their lives is slowly picked apart, Tomasz disappears.

Only Okay Audible Book

I am a little mystified by the 5 star reviews. Both main characters, although different, were self-absorbed and unlikable. They had a lack of both insight and intellect. I realize I should be more sympathetic to them given their difficult and sad circumstances. But they were so poorly constructed, I found myself mocking them...alone...in my car...

Historia
Mildred Lathbury is a clergyman's daughter and a mild-mannered spinster in 1950s England. She is one of those excellent women - the smart, supportive, repressed women whom men take for granted. As Mildred gets embroiled in the lives of her new neighbors - anthropologist Helena Napier; Helen's handsome, dashing husband, Rocky; and Julian Malory, the vicar next door - the novel presents a series of snapshots of human life as actually, and pluckily, lived.

I don't ordinarily post reviews, but I enjoyed this Audible book so much that I want others to be inclined to give it a listen!
The narrator was perfect and the book so enjoyable that I can't believe I did not read it before.
Please release more just like this!
