What kind of ending is that?

It was a good story but why in the world would the author split these stories and then end in the middle of the book.? This is a super strange and not very reasonable way to write books and it’s not like she normally writes. It’s like she took one of her regular books and just took the first and third fourths and divided it into two books. I’m unimpressed and confused. She should really write the second portion and add an ending for the last fourth.
