I do like the fact that this series has led me to return back to reading physical books with substance, and going to the library.
Old school reading.

Great sleep noise
Revisado: 11-02-23
By accident, my previous review indicates 5 stars instead of the mandatory 1 star. We really should be able to give a zero stars. This book deserves zero.
This is the worst book collection that I've come across in over 10 years on audible.
I've been trying to finish the series, but just can't stand it anymore.
The main character is a horrible mother and just plain simple minded. Everything is a joke to her, including death, loss of limbs, and decapitation. She is just plain ignorant on how to raise a teenager. Zara mocks her daughter, makes fun of her and uses magic to bellitle her and embarrass her.
Really, all her relationships with friends and family are a joke to her. Even though the writer tries to make Zara ditsy and funny, it all falls flat.
Only purchase this book or series if you want noise to fall asleep. Works wonderfully for that purpose alone.
Sorry.

Historia
Beckett Rousseau is the firstborn son of one of New Orleans’ most prominent families. He’s the quintessential golden boy—great looks, money, and a political career in his future—until his wife murders him. Or at least that’s what everyone thinks. Athena Durand is still reeling from her murder conviction, but now that it’s overturned, she’s at a loss on how to proceed with her life. As long as people still believe she’s guilty, she has no future in Louisiana and more importantly, she wants to know who killed her husband.

Don't stop!
Revisado: 08-24-23
This series is the best I've listened to, and I go through 3 audible books a week! After each, I just can't wait till the next.
Ms. DeLeon, please don't stop!
You always have me laughing out loud in the first chapter, then I get caught up in the mystery, while still laughing out loud.
I never get tired of Fortune, Gerty, and Ida Belle. Ronald and Celia are always great for comic relief.
All of the characters have been developed so well, and each book holds its own.
I've listened to every book in the series, I think 28 now, and I hope there are 28 more!
Thank you💜

Historia
No one expects to meet their father at their mother’s funeral. But for Gabby Medina, that’s exactly what happens. Her dad abandoned her when she was a baby, and now he’s back. And he wants to give her a house. Gabby doesn’t want the house—or him. But she could use the money. So Gabby agrees to take it under two conditions: First, she can sell the house whenever she wants. Second, accepting it doesn’t mean she accepts him.

oh Goodness! Such a slow story
Revisado: 08-03-23
Wow. I went to return this book and AUDIBLE does not make returns if you pay cash for a book. The only returns are if you use a credit.
If the book is $9 and a credit is $13, common sense says pay $9. If the book is horrible, as this one was, Audible won't refund unless you used an over priced credit.
Shame on Audible! I've been a member for at least 8 years, paid my monthly fee, and spent well over a hundred dollars on extra credits to buy books on Audible. I'm sad to have to let Audible go. Straight rip off.
As for this book, the time spent on her mother's death is ridiculous. I thought maybe my narration speed was too slow, so I upped it. That did not help a bit.
Then the scene with the Chef, way too long again. I know sexual harassment has always, and still is a problem. The story took too long explaining.
To qualify, I have been sexually abused and I've lost my Mom, Dad, and sister. I loved and love them deeply. Still, in a novel, her grieving thoughts were way too long.

You know you’re invisible when even your bullies forget to pick on you. That’s me, Bettina Blair, hidden in plain sight. No matter how hard I try I just never fit in with my classmates. Now I know why. I’m a witch...apparently. One little demon attack and my parents confess their ugly secret…and ship me off to an elite academy of magic—for witches only. I can't summon magic. I can't fight with my hands or my fists. I just don't belong here, and Jackson Lancaster keeps reminding me every single chance he gets. This boy is the most insufferable, intolerable, unbearable, judgmental person.

So boring!
Revisado: 05-16-23
I usually enjoy cozy mysteries, but this was so hard to listen to!
I skipped most of book one and tried to give book 2 a chance. Still boring!
Bettina, the main character, is dumber than dirt. "oh, he treats me like dog poop, but I love him!"
Maybe teens are lacking sense in the 2000s, but this series says they have no sense whatsoever.

Senior moment
Revisado: 11-02-22
I wondered why I stopped this series. Buying this one reminded me.
What loyal, faithful fiancee discusses her love life with her ex-husband. Especially her sex life!
What!!?? How can you be so dumb? it's bad enough you have a business with your ex. Then you chase your ex around the room for fun and reminisce about your old sex life with him?
What planet is this?
Maybe this isn't a book for senior citizens that have old fashioned respect for a current fiancee over the ex, cheating spouse. One that is still trying to sleep with his ex that is engaged.
Whatever. Not for faithful people, but okay for the new age and it's open relationships.

Savannah Moore arrives in Eternity Springs alone, determined to put her troubled past behind her. Her handcrafted-soap shop fits right in with the magic of this warm and welcoming community - but the sexy, suspicious local sheriff promises to upset her hard-won happiness. Zach Turner knows this woman means trouble - maybe to his town. Possibly to his friends. Definitely to his heart. Something about this simmering Southern beauty does crazy things to his committed bachelor status.

Çute, heartwarming stories, but no diversity
Revisado: 09-05-22
I'm disappointed that all 5 books I read in this series so far have all Caucasian characters, all the women are described as absolutely beautiful, and all the men are handsome or gorgeous. No diversity whatsoever. Yes, it's a small town but how is it possible for everyone to be White and beautiful? No Hispanics, no Asians, no Pacific Islanders, no Blacks. I will not be reading anymore of this series.

do not waste a credit
Revisado: 05-30-22
Unless you are an immature 30 year old, this is nuts.
These are 3 women between the ages of 35 and 40, and none have any common sense.
Two women let one schizophrenic woman ruin their lives by telling this stranger everything about themselves, and the third woman hadn't seen this woman since childhood, and just did everything this woman said.
All Isabelle's lies were believed by these woman, even when she killed someone!
Nonsense.

Hoping for another Auntie novel
Revisado: 04-05-22
For some reason, I couldn't get into the beginning of this book in the series, but so glad I kept going.
I truly laughed out loud quite a few times and I just love the antics of the Aunties.
I will listen again because I may have been distracted at the start.
This is a fun listen.
