Shallow
Revisado: 10-11-23
I tried really hard to get through this book but it's pretty bad. there's no real depth (atleast in the first half because I have up after that) and the story jumps around in ways that leave it wondering if you fell asleep and need to rewind. and let me tell you, I nearly did. the narrarator did a good job but even they couldn't revive this book. if you're a middleschool girl that wants a C list version of twilight then this one's for you.

Historia
Dillon has the terrifying power to create massive amounts of destruction with the slightest tweak of his will. Deanna is so consumed by fear, it has become like a black hole, drawing to her the very things that terrify her. Then, when the glare of a supernova 16 light-years away illuminates the night sky, they have a vision: There are six of them out there, all teenagers, and all suffering from supernatural afflictions that disfigure their bodies and souls.

Historia
In the days of yore, he flew the skies and scorched angry mobs - now he hides from swamp tour boats and rises only with the greatest reluctance from his La-Z-Boy recliner. Laying low in the bayou, this once-magnificent fire breather has been reduced to lighting Marlboros with nose sparks, swilling Absolut in a Flashdance T-shirt, and binging Netflix in a fishing shack. For centuries, he struck fear in hearts far and wide as Wyvern, Lord Highfire of the Highfire Eyrie - now he goes by Vern.

good listen
Revisado: 02-25-21
good book, great narrator. If you're like me you're here because you liked Eion's other books like Artemis fowl, and by now you've figured out this isn't a kids book. most of the bad reviews are due to people not understanding this concept or are overly sensitive. there is fowl language through the book but nothing worse than what you grew up hearing on the public school bus. as for the reviews saying that he should have left out politics, I have no idea what they thought was political about this book other than one carracter was described as an NRA gun toting redneck. book was entertaining and humorous, and pretty well thought out just like his other books. no regrets here.

Historia
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

this book is a good time burner that tells a good story. series as a whole gets extremely repetitive after the 5th or so book. but until then, would definitely recommend as a sci fi shooter.

The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies—humans with extraordinary abilities—who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone...except the villains they once overthrew. Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice—and in Nova. But Nova's allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both.

Good listen
Revisado: 07-21-20
had a rough start, but got better quickly. at first the book felt like if the xmen took place in the DC universe, but it started to feel more authentic early on. the girl narrator starts out with too much sass in every character she voiced but eventually got the hang of it. by the second and third book it starts to show an interesting point of view in that the good guys don't always win without sacrifices along the way. wasnt as cheesey as I expected.

I really enjoy this series, and this book is probably my favorite of the series. narrator is good, isn't the kind that makes you groan at failed attempts at voices. 10/10 would recommend.
