Historia
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

Nebula and Hugo awards. Seriously?
Revisado: 10-23-23
Look, it's a fine sci-fi story. But it absolutely lacks depth and doesn't provide some interesting conflict to observe. This breaks immersion. There's not much to be immersed in.
Anyway, see for yourself.

Historia
The Scavenger species are circling. It is, truly, the End Days for the Gzilt civilization. An ancient people, organized on military principles and yet almost perversely peaceful, the Gzilt helped set up the Culture 10,000 years earlier and were very nearly one of its founding societies, deciding not to join only at the last moment. Now they've made the collective decision to follow the well-trodden path of millions of other civilizations: They are going to Sublime, elevating themselves to a new and almost infinitely more rich and complex existence.

Impossible to listen. Unfit for an audio book
Revisado: 12-22-22
Let me start with a direct quote from this book
> Still, as one of the ship Minds that had been involved at the sharp end of the Idiran war a thousand years earlier and not gone into a profound retreat, a group-mind or the wilder shores of Eccentricity, the Mind within the Caconym understood that it constituted a kind of resource for the Culture, and grudgingly accepted that it had some sort of responsibility to play along.
Now try to read it back aloud. This sentence is hard to read even in the original written form, let alone when it's spoken back to you in an audio book.
I speak English fluently though I'm sure not a native speaker. Yet my level of language comprehension is quite high. But this title is barely readable. Such long complicated sentences are just painful to digest, let alone enjoy. On top of that the novel is context heavy. The author is using myriads of acronyms, abbreviations. Dialogs between ships go in super informal manner with little or zero exposition. Ship names are interrupted sentences.
...I could go on for few more paragraphs. In my mind this is a poorly edited novel. Yes it may have an interesting and engaging plot, but it's really hard to get through all these roadblocks emerged by the author.

How come this book doesn't feature a PDF?
Revisado: 09-10-21
It's full of numerical data read from tables. I'm sure there are some graphs as well.
That's a very sloppy edition. I'm disappointed.

Why was the presentation of Martin Silenus changed
Revisado: 05-04-21
This has completely ruined the character for me. I mean voice acting for the character differs greatly between 'Hyperion' and 'Fall of Hyperion'.
Here it makes the character flat w/o any depth. Turns him into a caricature of himself.
Otherwise it's a great book. Very different from the original novel, but great nevertheless.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Nice story
Revisado: 12-06-17
As a follow up to The Marian this novel is targeted at a larger audience. It has properties that made the original great.
It is fun. Has great characters. Lots of action.
It is less geeky and follows some well defined path - a smuggler who’s heart is in a right place.
Rosario Dawson is superb at presenting the novel. One of the best narrations I’ve come across.

Historia
When James Bowen found an injured, ginger street cat curled up in the hallway of his sheltered accommodation, he had no idea just how much his life was about to change. James was living hand to mouth on the streets of London and the last thing he needed was a pet. Yet James couldn't resist helping the strikingly intelligent tom cat, whom he quickly christened Bob. He slowly nursed Bob back to health and then sent the cat on his way, imagining he would never see him again. But Bob had other ideas.
