Roseanne Barr is a force of nature. Whether taking the sitcom world by storm, challenging accepted social norms, or battling the wild pigs inhabiting her nut farm in Hawaii, she is not to be trifled with. In this audiobook, Roseanne unleashes her razor-sharp observations on hypocrisy, hubris, and self-perpetuating institutions of questionable value - as well as menopause, pharmaceuticals, and her grandkids. And she's as controversial, original, and funny as ever.

Listened in two sittings. Such a great book by a great author & story teller. Her leftist views are gone now but this captures how she used to think. Before being canceled.

Historia
The first story Selma Blair Beitner ever heard about herself is that she was a mean, mean baby. With her mouth pulled in a perpetual snarl and a head so furry it had to be rubbed to make way for her forehead, Selma spent years living up to her terrible reputation: biting her sisters, lying spontaneously, getting drunk from Passover wine at the age of seven, and behaving dramatically so that she would be the center of attention. In a memoir that is as wildly funny as it is emotionally shattering, Blair tells the captivating story of growing up and finding her truth.

I was surprised
Revisado: 09-27-22
Reading reviews of this audio book had me pause. Lots were saying that Selma reading the story was horrible & she fake cries.
I completely disagree. She narrated this story in a way that brought you through the emotions of her experiences. Nobody else could have done better. The story was good and it was such an easy listen. I found myself wondering why she wouldn't go deeper (sometimes, not all). There wasn't a huge focus on her MS, it's there because it's part of her story, but it doesn't have a huge presence where that's all you think of as you listen.
I laughed, cried, dropped my jaw on the floor & ended feeling satisfied. Selma definitely has more stories to her life & I hope she continues to write & share her journey.

Love her style
Revisado: 03-22-22
I've always loved Bethany and her ability to speak about real life things in an intelligent way. She has been through a lot and shares the knowledge gained from her experiences.
I love that she always says the quiet part out loud. She's not scared to stand by her beliefs.

Suprised it was so good.
Revisado: 02-17-22
Great narration was like listening to a movie. This book would make a great movie. I think the less you know, the better. The twists and original and the whole thing was not how I thought it was going to be.
If you like twisty and don't mind that it's a bit graphic and dark at times, you'll be happy you took a chance.

Revisado: 02-05-22
Very disappointing. Wasn't sure if it was the book or the narrator that kept me uninterested. Found myself spacing off while listening and then all the sudden it was over. I tried to the end yet I never got caught up in the story.

Not sure if I'm reviewing the episode or podcast
Revisado: 12-27-21
Rating is based on podcast as a whole.
I don't know if there are inside jokes that make this better, so I picked 5 random episodes to listen to. I chose the newest, the oldest, and a few based on my interest.
I liked 2 out of the 5. I kept finding myself spacing off while listening. There's a lot of rambling with no direction and a ton of commercials. I get it the bills need paid and I was happy I had the ability to fast forward them, but it's a lot.
I loved and adored Lala episode. I love her podcast and have been a fan. You gave great advice, it felt like sitting with friends and chatting keeping it real. I've concluded it was the best episode, just because Lala was in it.
Try this is you want, but definitely not my cuppa tea.

Am I a grown up now because I now love history? This episode was so amazing. Bailey is an awesome narrator and I can totally visualize the faces she's making when speaking. Haha
On top of her hilarious story telling she picks very interesting topics. I binged all 20 episodes in two days. Love her and so happy she has a podcast now.
Everyone should check her out on YouTube for Murder, Mystery, Makeup, Monday! ❤

bRand new & even better than before!
Revisado: 10-12-21
bRand New Review: 12/1/21 - I'm in love with the re-bRand of this podcast. There have only 2 episodes since, but they're even better than the old ones. I really enjoy listening to Lala's point of view and you can hear in her voice that she's excited again. She's funny, straight to the point, kind, and a bit of an old soul. I really loved that she said that her hope for this podcast was to be able to "discuss our triumphs and trips together...". , It feels inclusive, relatable, and fun.
Old version was funny but was very surface.
Old Review = 3. 5 stars - This podcast is mostly Lala and her man, Randall, talking about various topics with guests.
I was pleasantly suprised and laughed out loud many times. Randall interrupts too much, whether it's Lala or their guest speaking. I would love to hear more from Lala's point of view.
It's light, funny, and adorible to hear a couple have so much fun together.
Good job you two!!
