Historia
Haris Abadi is a man in search of a cause. An Arab American with a conflicted past, he is now in Turkey, attempting to cross into Syria and join the fight against Bashar al-Assad's regime. But he is robbed before he can make it, and is taken in by Amir, a charismatic Syrian refugee and former revolutionary, and Amir's wife, Daphne, a sophisticated beauty haunted by grief. As it becomes clear that Daphne is also desperate to return to Syria, Haris's choices become ever more wrenching: Whose side is he really on?

Gripping Tale, Beautifully Written and Dramatically Read
Revisado: 03-27-17
The characters in this book take us on a journey into the dark center of Syrian violence and show us the many conflicting human factors at work. More than in TV pictures and news reports, this fictional account depicts the human side of those caught in the conflict--their individual loves, regrets, losses and betrayals. Author Elliot Ackerman, a decorated Marine veteran of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, spent years researching the Syrian conflict and the result is a beautifully written story that comes alive as it is read masterfully by the narrator.
This book would appeal to those who appreciate great writing and anyone looking to understand one the world's most troubled areas.
