Historia
Amy Wilson has always been an ultimate helper. As a big sister, Girl Scout, faithful reader of teen magazines, personal assistant, sitcom sidekick, and, finally, mother of three, Amy believed it was her destiny to be a people pleaser. She learned to put others first, to do what she was told, to finish what she started, and to look like she had everything under control, even when she very much did not. Along the way, Amy started to wonder why doing it all had been her job.

I did’t learn anything and found I couldn’t see what she was trying to say sometimes.

Historia
They call them wayward girls. Loose girls. Girls who grew up too fast. And they’re sent to Wellwood House in St. Augustine, Florida, where unwed mothers are hidden by their families to have their babies in secret, to give them up for adoption, and most important of all, to forget any of it ever happened. Everything the girls eat, every moment of their waking day, and everything they’re allowed to talk about is strictly controlled by adults who claim they know what’s best for them.

Not fun to listen to.
Revisado: 04-12-25
I did not like the reading of this book. Parts of it were painful to listen to - I think she overdid the drama. The story was a bit pointless, which didn’t help. I’ve given birth and the descriptions didn’t seem very realistic. I wanted to hit some of the girls or at least give them a good shaking. I might have liked the story better if I had read it instead of listening to this particular reader.

Historia
They say Mackerel Sky was founded when Captain Burrbank first saw Nimuë the mermaid and forgot the sea. Stricken by love, he moored his tall ship and made camp on the highest cliff, hoping to forever gaze upon her beauty. That camp became a settlement, the settlement a town, the town a community both blessed and cursed by their tempestuous affair.

Painful noise - not relaxing at all!
Revisado: 06-06-20
I thought it might just be my speakers, but they work fine for everything else! There is a sound that runs through the recording that is way too loud. In order to hear her voice, the noise has to be painful! I won't be using this recording.

It could have been good . . .
Revisado: 05-11-20
Kids who catch on fire is such an appealing story line, but I feel the story went nowhere. The characters were flat and not very well developed. I didn't feel invested in them or the story. Sorry, but I think your time would be better spent listening to something else.

Historia
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Great escape from the real world!
Revisado: 04-07-20
Listening to this book was a great experience! The reader was wonderfully expressive and helped the story come to life. The story was an incredible fantasy filled with excellent well-thought-out beings. A whole new world of people with understandable new customs and ways of life. All was explained to make it all believable. Just a superb escape from "our" earth. I can't wait to hear book 2!

At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

A Not a Compelling Story, but I love Tom Hanks
Revisado: 03-24-20
Tom Hanks did an excellent job of reading and interpreting this story. The characters were well developed, but the story itself was not exciting. I felt the characters were a bit whiny and repeated the same lines with no real resolution. I only listened to the the whole story because I loved listening to Tom Hanks!
