Historia
Cecilia has it all. The house on the beach. The cute figure. The beautiful baby. But she’s a long way from perfect. She’s let me into her gorgeous house as her nanny because now she’s on her own, she needs a little help with her baby daughter Peyton. She barely notices me. But I see everything. While Peyton naps, I rifle through her drawers and discover the dark secrets in her past, the threatening letter from her ex-husband. It's a shame that Cecilia doesn’t have my powers of observation. If she took some time, she might just recognise me. I’ve been following her for a while, after all.

The narration ruined it for me.
Revisado: 03-24-25
The one narrator puts an emphasis on T’s and with Peyton or payTon as the baby, it’s too much. And it’s so over the top dramatic. I should have read it and not listen to it. People aren’t that dramatic all the time when they’re talking. This was really bad.

Historia
Devon Ferrell and Richard Belmont are engaged, in love, and from two different worlds. Devon is as eager to please Richard’s elite parents as she is to leave the traumas of her childhood behind. After all, the Belmonts are her family now. But being brought into the fold is unbalancing her. There are the piercing stares from Richard’s brother, the confounding whispers about Devon’s moods and health. It’s as if the Belmonts are looking for reasons to reject her, to fill her with self-doubt and put her on edge. It’s working. And no one seems to be on Devon’s side. Not even Richard.

LOVE THIS BOOK!!!
Revisado: 03-06-25
I got to read this before it came out, and I loved it so much I had a hard time finding another book to read. Everything paled in comparison. So I was thrilled when I saw the audiobook because I wanted to hear the characters. Well, it was disappointing… the narration, I mean. I guess because I had high standards for it, but I’m just saying if Imogen Church had narrated it, this audiobook would have been perfect! It wasn’t awful but sometimes I had a hard time with who was talking.
The storyline is so engaging, I couldn’t put it down. It’s hard to say what it’s about without spoilers. Just that it’s crazy how Richard can walk around without a backbone. He’s so weak and pathetic, just like his brother and his dad. His mother had ALL the temerity, and she didn’t give an F. And I went from “wow she’s rude” to “I can’t stand her!” No one hates people who don’t exist, unless it’s from a book so well written that they seem real.
I recommend this book all day!! Enjoy it, and block out the day because it’s hard to put down.

The narration is ridiculous.
Revisado: 02-26-25
I wanted to like it, but the narrator wasn’t good at all. I stayed with it because I wanted to know where it was going. It’s just not so good, and I hope it’s exaggerating the way these mothers act. But anyway, if you decide to get it, preview the narration.

I know I’ll have a hard time finding another book I like as much as this one. It’s really an amazing book. Just pay attention because you think you know, but you don’t. And at the end, I was WOW! And that’s what I love about reading.

Historia
When Anna Hartley’s husband, Henry, calls her with a terrible, guilty confession, she can’t believe what she hears. It has to be a bad joke—the mild, predictable artist she married would never hurt a fly, let alone commit murder. But her confusion turns to horror when police find his body washed up on the banks of the Rio Grande.

Anna’s part wasn’t my favorite, but I loved this book! The narration was good too. I like reading books that have several things going on, and not just a single plot. I wasn’t ready for this one to end.

Revisado: 12-20-24
I loved this book. I found it by accident, and listened to it in one sitting. The narration is excellent, and with this many POV, it’s important. I thought it might get confusing but the characters are so great that I felt like I knew them. Nothing was confusing and the story, and side stories, are so interesting I just didn’t want it to end.
100% recommend!

Wow!
Revisado: 11-19-24
I didn’t know what to expect. It’s a short book, and the blurb sounded interesting. And, the reviews I’d read from people I follow on GoodReads were great. So I tucked myself in and started reading. Only, it started out kind of boring, and even cliched. I don’t know anyone in real life who would agree to something like this, but it’s been done in books, movies, and TV, so it seemed trite. But I haven’t read about it like this! I didn’t think books could shock me anymore. This one did. I felt it in my bones. I finished it in one day, and it’s not a book I’ll forget. I’m already planning a time to read it again. It’s just that good.
I recommend this so highly, and stick with it. These two are not what they seem to be.
