So I was in search of a rom-com and I was out of credits, so I had to click the 'included in your membership" tab. I got this title, which was a bit out of my normal go-to's, but thought I would give it a try. It was free, so why not, right? Well, I have to say I am surprised at how good the book actually is. Often when they're free, they're kinda sub-par, but this was actually pretty good. Well written and believable. It's not like an all-time-favorite kind of thing, but it was a cute, wholesome, sometimes funny, could possibly happen in real life kind of book. Not overly fluffy and unrealistic, more genuine real life stuff. The kind of romance you wish you can actually find.

Historia
I didn't think pulling off for a quick bite to eat in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere would change everything. I was wrong. Now, I'm running through the forest wearing nothing but a red cloak, being hunted by wolves. I'm desperate, terrified, and not ready to die. When they attack, I know this is it. Except…it isn't. Because the den of wolves that bite me somehow turns into men. Men who swear I'm just like them—a shifter. And as much as I don't want to believe them, I'm not sure they're wrong.

Different in a Good Way
Revisado: 03-31-25
So this plot was totally unlike the typical shifter book. It doesn't start out with the main character searching for her the scent of her mates, and what I found even more interesting is that in this series, there's a difference between brothers by blood relation, versus chosen brothers. So the packs in this book are a set of guys that are more like best friends who chose to be brothers, rather than the usual brothers all with the same mother and different fathers scenario most books of this nature have. So many "rules of the pack" that you thought you knew from all your other reads is turned on it's head here, and I like that it isn't as predictable as you expect it to be. Very good story line that has you so intrigued you won't want to out it down. Mystery, Magic, Romance, Suspence...this book has it all.

Cheesey
Revisado: 06-12-24
I listen to so many of these. My all time favorite genre are regency romance mysteries with a female lead. This was right up that alley, and bonus - it was free with membership. Of course I had to listen! My goodness, as many of these as I read, I'm sure most people would think I'm used to cheese. But no, this had a very sloppy storyline and characters who just met and seemingly fall in love so incredibly quickly while spending very little time together. I know this is thought to be the basis for most plots in this era/genre, but this time frame was merely a quarter of what most stories of this genre are. It was so brief and so sickeningly sweet and sappy...it was hard to finish. Rather disappointed, I must say, though glad that it was free.

Initially confusing
Revisado: 02-03-23
A little slow at the start, but it gets better. It started out quite interesting at the prolog, and then it suddenly flashes forward multiple years (but doesn't tell you how many) and the girl doesn't recall getting married, so it's confusing because you're wondering why she's turning down marriage proposals and searching for a special someone before agreeing to marriage, all the while she's already married. Very confusing. I had to go back to the beginning to verify it was the same girl they were talking about in chapters 1&2. You have to wait until chapter 3 before things begin to start making any semblance of sense. Though the part about the Godfather figure looking after the girl for all those years still confuses me, because he was supposedly supposed to be roaming the continent with his Godson. All in all, it ends up being a really good story, just a few confusing points.

Try this Series- It's so good!!
Revisado: 01-17-23
It didn't take long to get me hooked on this series. Always thankful for box sets like these that let you listen to multiple books in one setting, as I am absolutely addicted to audibles and listen to then constantly. I never imagined how quickly a 34hr long listen would come and go. I thought for sure this length would take me days to finish listening to, but it was so good I could hardly stop listening. I kept my headphones in all around the house no matter what I was doing, just to finish listening. Alas, there are only 4 books in this set, and 9 in the initial series. I have finished all 9 books in 9 days, y'all. That's how good this series is. The whole plot/story line is good and hooks your interest, and I love that it ties in current life trends. They talk about current shows on Netflix that people have seen and enjoyed and it makes it fun listening to the characters enjoy and talk about those shows as well. In a book later in the series, they also make reference to a well know celebrity, using a different name, but you clearly know who it's referencing. I really really enjoy this series. Don't hesitate to try it! I've already recommended it to 2 of my friends.

Pleasantly Surprised
Revisado: 01-01-23
I actually thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was one of my "buy one get one free" during the holidays and I was honestly skeptical at first. I probably wouldn't have given it a chance if it weren't free, but I really really enjoyed this book. Most of the time in these kinds of books, it's all about the sex and little plot is actually there. In this text however, there was a lot of story line and it was GOOD story line. It wasn't pure cheese, and it kept you checking how much time you have left because you didn't want it to end. This book covered in one text what most of these books cover over the course of 2 or 3 books. The steamy moments were excellent as well; none of that was taken away by any of the plot. I also liked the narrator. Someone said once that the best kind of narrator is one you don't notice throughout, (because they engross you so much into the story and in keeping up with the different characters and voices) and I absolutely agree. Excellent listen all around. I definitely recommend this book.

One of the best books I've listened to in a while. I was constantly changing my guesses on what would happen next and who the culprit was. When you read so much, it's hard to be surprised sometimes, but this book kept me pleasantly guessing throughout.

BRING BACK JUSTINE EYRE!!!
Revisado: 03-25-22
The first book was phenomenal, so of course I bought this book. I was disappointed upon learning however, that Justine Erye was not to continue narrating in the 2nd book. Hugely disappointing. The male voice was not at all what I imagined the male characters to sound either, but after some time away, I revisited the story and was able to get past the voices and it ended up being a good story.

Irritating child voice
Revisado: 04-18-21
For the most part, it is a good story, and I do like the narrator's storytelling voice, as well as character voices. My one problem...it is like nails on a chalkboard when she does the voice of the little sister. Nowhere in the story does it state that the child has a lisp, but the narrator makes it sound as though she does. Every time the kid (Pippa) says anything with an "s", it sounds like a "th". "Sir", sounds like "thir", "lessons" sounds like "lethons", and so on, with a high pitched whining voice. The kid is supposed to be seven years old, but the narrator makes her sound like she is still one or two, and learning how to pronounce things. Drives me crazy. A seven year old child is a First Grader. Old enough and intelligent enough to pronunciate things just fine and hold a decent conversation without a whiney voice.

Perfect for Nap Time!
Revisado: 11-13-20
I'm so happy I found this! Jordan Blair reads in a very calm and relaxing voice; I play a story each day from this podcast at nap time in my daycare class. My kids always ask for a story, and I was so happy to find this podcast. One of the best things about it, aside from how calm and peaceful the readings are, is that there's about 15-20 minutes of calming music after the story ends. It's just enough time to allow the story to soak in and they fall asleep listening to soft music.
I would love some more relatable stories for the kids though. They're 5, so their favorite stories so far have been Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Puss in Boots and Peter Rabbit...just of what we have listened to so far. I've been afraid to try Rapunzel or The Little Mermaid though, because the real versions of those stories end very gruesomely, and I'm afraid of them hearing it at this age. Overall, this is an excellent podcast. I have tried others that are way too loud and energetic for my nap time needs. Again, excellent job with the peaceful narration Jordan Blair. Thank you!
