Heartbreaking hope
Revisado: 06-30-22
Marvelously presented, a story of the life of hardship and woes during a most trying human experience. The Americans did, so expectantly, finally arrive. A country still free and capable we have been blessed so nobly by that very God whose missionaries still roam the nether parts of the world. The world growing, now, darker and more trying, than before. May we still remain strong and brave and come to the rescue of millions of the oppressed. Let us, take steadfastly, yet humbly, our important place in this world brimming still with “huddled masses yearning to be free.” Let us share our strength, knowledge, and abundance so they may still say, “The Americans are coming!”

Historia
It's 1894. Jordan Wallace and Sadie Wagner appear to have little in common. Jordan, a middle-aged black teacher, lives in segregated Chicago. Two thousand miles away, Sadie, the white wife of an ambitious German businessman, lives in more tolerant Oakland, California. But years ago, their families intertwined on a plantation in Virginia. There, Jordan's and Sadie's mothers developed a bond stronger than blood, despite the fact that one was enslaved and the other was the privileged daughter of the plantation’s owner.

Historically informational
Revisado: 06-15-22
Our history is replete with cruelty and unfairness so difficult to stomach. Yet, today is no different. Our lives must be aware of and committed to repair in every way possible realizing this outcome is unlikely to ever be resolved. A book committed to accurately explore challenges and possibilities. Intriguingly presented and expertly read. We barge forward and upward.

Historia
The enchanted island of Corfu was home to Gerald Durrell and his family for five years before the Second World War. For the passionate young zoologist, Corfu was a natural paradise, teeming with strange birds and beasts that he could collect watch and care for. But life was not without its problems - Gerald’s family often objected to his animal-collecting activities, especially when the beasts wound up in the family’s villa or even worse - the fridge.

Durrellightful
Revisado: 04-24-22
I am a fan of all things Gerry Durrell. His descriptive vocabulary is extraordinary and makes his writing the most delightful of all things I have read. If only he would have the productivity of some crime novelists. And, the descriptive reading done by Christopher Timothy is extremely enjoyable,as well. Light, funny, and on top of it educational of the world of nature.

A thorough study of these peoples over 200 years since discovery. All points of reckoning considered. It is written in beautiful prose though scientific in consideration. The reading is exceptional in feeling, as well as, production. If fascinated with history of this enigmatic people, you must be carried away now by this reading.

Historia
Meredith May recalls the first time a honeybee crawled on her arm. She was five years old, her parents had recently split, and suddenly, she found herself in the care of her grandfather, an eccentric beekeeper who made honey in a rusty old military bus in the yard. That first close encounter was at once terrifying and exhilarating for May, and in that moment, she discovered that everything she needed to know about life and family was right before her eyes, in the secret world of bees.

Life Dependent on This Story
Revisado: 04-01-22
I read most novels I see based on the life of bees. THE KEEPER OF THE BEES by Gene Stratton-Porter was my first. Life lessons taught by bees and those who care for them are invaluable. Our source of food lies in their existence. We must learn their life lessons for us and for the continuance of mankind. It rivals stories of survival and mystery. This story will awaken curiosity of the mind and drama of the soul. It awakens the essence of life itself

Revisado: 03-10-22
A book, after just a couple of hours, I found harsh and unpleasant. I discontinued reading this tale, assured it could not lend to my belief in the kindness of God’s most endearing creation. I returned to the reading and did discover inherent in the story a gentle forgiving nature expected in a book called, THE DOG I LOVED

Experiential
Revisado: 03-09-22
The story, I am sure, is true, through no actual experience of mine. The grammar is delightfully perfect. The telling somewhat stilted, but thorough for the brothers and sisters of different skin color than mine. Each in this existence suffer, but most more than me. My heart is broken and my sympathies wide. This book will certainly open and educate very many of this world.

Historia
Gerald Durrell's last book, The Aye-Aye and I, records his final animal-collecting expedition, a trip to Madagascar in 1990, and his efforts to save the elusive and mythical lemuroid known as the Aye-Aye. Prompted by the country's radical deforestation and slash-and-burn agriculture, Durrell, his wife, and their team of zoologists embark on a mission to capture and conserve the species - distinguished by its "giant, chisel-like teeth", "round, hypnotic eyes", and large "spoon-like ears".

Of course! The superb vocabulary and astounding jocular spirit with which each of Gerald Durrell’s books is written is profoundly evident in this book. His determination in saving the world it’s animal kingdom is so appreciated. His trip to Madagascar is eye-opening and ear-appreciated. The delivery is astounding. Do read for appreciation of word and animal recovery ❤️🩹

Aminata Diallo is the beguiling heroine of Lawrence Hill's Someone Knows My Name. In it, Hill exquisitely imagines the tale of an 18th-century woman's life, spanning six decades and three continents. The fascinating story that Hill tells is a work of the soul and the imagination. Searing with human pain. Empowering in human resilience
Revisado: 02-19-22
Firstly, let us recognize the supreme presentation of the story. The story is rife in human suffering and man’s inhumanity toward man. It is quite graphic, but told with human dignity. It is, in all reality, unbelievable. My mind riles in disgust with this truth, but today throughout this world remains this evil. We must recognize the inherent preeminence of the subjugation of one human over another whether it be by the color of skin or the class in human society. 😓

I enjoy the writing of Gerry Durrell, always! The vocabulary and descriptive qualities are superb! The reading of this book is lyrical and I love it! I also enjoy God’s creatures on this earth as does he. I have read many of his books and was unsure about quality of the narrator. However, I am thrilled with the presentation of this book.🦭
