Historia
In Spirit of a Hummingbird, Felicia Thai Heath, the daughter of Vietnamese and Chinese immigrants who met in the United States, gives us a disquieting, eventful memoir based on her early childhood on the run with her father—a notorious Vietnamese kingpin and escaped convict—and her conflicted mother. Clever and mature beyond her age, young Felicia experienced poverty and witnessed abuse as her dysfunctional family bounced around in the United States and Canada. Amid all the tumult and terror, she found ways to love her family, educate herself, navigate her world, and discover her potential.

Captivating, Compelling & Courageous

I finished this audio book in 1 day! I couldn’t stop listening. It is a real emotional roller coaster & does need a trigger warning for anyone with abuse/neglect/ trauma history this book may bring back the emotions of those events because of how descriptive this story is I felt like I was living it myself. Very vividly told. The author is truly an amazing person having overcome so much and done the inner work necessary to move forward in a healthy way. Admirable the ability to be vulnerable as I feel anyone who reads this will have many life lessons and reminders. A must read!

Historia
Author Robert J. Bernstein has found a different approach based on cognition thinking in helping people of all ages with ASD. The author's goal is for people with ASD to be able to live in the world and connect with the people in it as themselves, to express their unique humanity and engage more fully in the human interactions that give life meaning and make it worth the effort of getting out of bed every day. He believes that whatever he does therapeutically must be on the ASD individual’s terms; he or she must lead.

Senior in HS never had a friend
Revisado: 09-14-21
This book was very illuminating! We just started working work Mr. Bernstein for help with social skills as my son has never had a friend and is finally expressing the desire to make one! I loved everything in the book because some of the examples reminded me of how far we have come already and others provider practical ways I can help my son through these next steps in life. I highly recommend not only listening to this book but reaching out to the author for help.
