Historia
History is rewritten in an instant as the future smashes into the past, and high-tech hardware goes head to head with World War Two technology. In the chaos that ensues, thousands are killed, but the maelstrom has only just begun. The veterans of Pearl Harbor have never seen a helicopter, or a cruise missile - let alone nanotechnology, ceramic bullets, and F22 Raptor stealth jetfighters. Allied and Axis forces are then caught in a desperate struggle to gain the upper hand.

Neo-liberal power fantasy.
Revisado: 04-19-23
Imagine watching CNN during the early days of the Iraq war. And you’ve got a pretty good idea of what this book is like. Utterly clueless and hilariously imperialistic. However if you can stick it out the story itself is decent for the first two book. (I recommend you stop at book two.)

Historia
January 1864: General Robert E. Lee faces defeat. The Army of Northern Virginia is ragged and ill-equipped. Gettysburg has broken the back of the Confederacy and decimated its manpower. Then, Andries Rhoodie, a strange man with an unplaceable accent, approaches Lee with an extraordinary offer. Rhoodie demonstrates an amazing rifle: its rate of fire is incredible, its lethal efficiency breathtaking - and Rhoodie guarantees unlimited quantities to the Confederates. The name of the weapon is the AK-47.

Good narrator, well written (if a bit silly) story.
Revisado: 02-26-23
First of all, I’m not sure why so many reviewers have said the narrator was bad. He’s got distinct voices for each character and easily understandable pronunciation. Now I’ll say this it’s clear he’s never heard a South African accent before but that’s forgivable.
As for the story it’s what it says on the tin, time traveling South African neo-Nazis supplying modern guns to the CSA. Now I know that sounds silly, and it is. But it’s takes that promise and does more with it than you might think.
If you like sillier alternate history stories, or political thrillers I’d recommend.

Historia
When marine private Oliver Chadwick Gardenier is killed in the marine barrack bombing in Beirut, somebody who might be Saint Peter gives him a choice: Go to heaven, which, while nice, might be a little boring, or return to earth. The Boss has a mission for him, and he's to look for a sign. He's a marine: He'll choose the mission. Unfortunately, the sign he's to look for is "57". Which, given the food services contract in Bethesda Hospital, creates some difficulty. Eventually it appears that God's will is for Chad to join a group called Monster Hunters International.

Must read.

I usually don’t review things, but this is my favorite book I’ve ever read. The story the characters everything is just perfect.
Without spoiling anything the way the book makes you understand why the main character is the way he is, and gets you inside his slightly twisted mind is great.

Historia
A misguided time travel experiment in the 25th century fans out to impact hundreds of parallel universes. Heinrich Schloss had arrived at Berlin's Tempelhof airport in 1982 to pick up his wife. After a brief migraine-like spasm, he opened his eyes to Tempelhof in 1941 to witness Hitler's death in an airplane accident. A history professor who had grown up in a divided Berlin was now a party chieftain in Nazi Germany. All those speculative conversations around the table with colleagues about what could have been changed to avoid the fall of Germany now had immediacy.

Better than I expected.
Revisado: 02-12-22
To be frank I picked this up expecting to get a good laugh out of it based on how goofy the summery sounded. Now I’m no stranger to the idea of Alt-History. Lord knows I’ve read my fair share of it over the years. But the idea of this one in particular just struck me as goofy. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that behind the goofy setup lay a genuinely great political thriller that kept me engaged enough to listen to the whole thing in one day. The machinations of the junta that replaces Hitler after his death, as they all vie for influence over the Reich made for an incredibly interesting, and fun story. This book had likable characters (those not from history at least), a good plot. And perhaps most importantly for this type of story, it knows not to take itself too seriously. If you are at all interested in alt-history or political thrillers I recommend you give this a try!
Where things all apart a little is the narration, meaning no disrespect to the narrator I found him very distracting due to his complete inability to pronounce German words. Which in another story wouldn't have been a problem of course, but in a story about the Third Reich, there are quite a lot of german words sprinkled throughout. Now I am neither German nor fluent in German but even I was distracted by this so if that is going to be a problem for you I advise against listening to this book.
